Energy Shots Unleashed: Daily Dose of Bang—Yay or Nay?

Energy Shots Unleashed: Daily Dose of Bang—Yay or Nay?

Bang Energy Shots are sold by VPX Sports, the same company that created Bang Energy drink.

Bang Energy Shots are similar to Bang but have fewer ingredients, and instead of cans, they come in small bottles.

Perhaps before switching to Bang Energy Shots, you’d like to first know more about them.

And you’ve probably wondered if it’s safe to drink Bang Energy Shots every day.

The quick answer is: You can drink ONE can of Bang Energy Shots every day as long as you don’t have any pre-existing medical conditions, have a balanced diet, and have a healthy lifestyle.

But let’s take a closer look at what’s inside Bang Shots and how they might affect you if you drink them every day.

Bang Shots Caffeine Content

Bang Energy Shots have about as much caffeine as three cups of coffee.

A 3 fl. oz bottle of Bang Energy Shots contains 300mg of caffeine.

The amount of caffeine in Bang Shots is very high, in the same league as the likes of Reign, Adrenaline Shoc, and Celsius.

The caffeine content in Bang Energy Shots almost reaches the daily recommended caffeine limit which is 400mg of caffeine in a day for adults according to the FDA.

With such a high caffeine content, children under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those who are sensitive to caffeine definitely shouldn’t consume Bang energy shots.

Bang Energy Shots are also not recommended for those with health conditions or on prescribed medication. If you have minor health problems and still want to have Bang Shots as a daily feature in your diet, you should consult your doctor first.

I also recommend you restrict your consumption of Bang Energy Shots to only one bottle per day and if possible, space out your consumption to give your body a break.

For more information about the caffeine in Bang Energy, read my other article here.

How long do Bang Shots take to kick in?

Bang energy shots, like other energy drinks, can take around 30 – 60 minutes after consumption for them to reach peak levels and feel the full effects of the caffeine.

However, caffeine can remain in your body for quite some time. It takes 5-6 hours for the amount of caffeine in your body to be reduced by half.

So, if you drink 300mg of caffeine from Bang Shots, after around 5 hours you’ll still have about 150mg in your system.

As a side note, you also shouldn’t consume other caffeinated food or drinks like tea, coffee, soda or chocolate (all of which also contain caffeine) alongside Bang Shots, otherwise, you might be in for some unpleasant side effects.

Aside from that, there’s also a possibility of a caffeine overdose if you drink too much caffeine.

Of course, how much caffeine your body can tolerate largely depends on your caffeine metabolism.

In addition, you should avoid drinking Bang Shots close to bedtime. A 2015 study found that caffeine can reset the timing of your body clock, making it difficult for you to fall asleep and get a good night’s rest.

How Much Sugar Is In Bang Shots?

According to the nutritional label, Bang Energy Shots contain zero sugar, instead, it has sugar alcohols and artificial sweeteners.

Sugar alcohols are sweeteners that can be found in fruits and vegetables, though some are man-made. Sugar alcohols contain about half the calories of table sugar.

It’s normal for foods or drinks that are labelled ‘zero sugar’ or ‘no sugar added’ to have sugar alcohol in them. They also help make food and drinks sweeter by combining them with artificial sweeteners.

Sugar alcohols might be beneficial for weight loss since they contain fewer calories compared to regular sugar, and they don’t cause cavities either.

However, consuming too much sugar and alcohol in a short amount of time can lead to gas, diarrhea, and bloating. Despite the fact that there’s a small number of sugar alcohols in Bang Shots, you should still drink it in moderation.

What Artificial Sweeteners Are In Bang Shots?

Bang Energy Shots contain sucralose, an artificial sweetener.

Sucralose is around 200 times sweeter than sugar and is often used in non-caloric foods and beverages.

Artificial sweeteners like sucralose are believed to be able to help with weight loss, though many studies have reported inconclusive results.

Other studies, however, found that artificial sweeteners may increase the risk of obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.

From how I see it, like most modern chemicals we have, there’s simply not enough evidence that artificial sweeteners can harm or benefit our health over the long term.

You can minimise the risks by consuming them in moderate amounts, just like anything else we put into our bodies.

Artificial sweeteners can be harmful or beneficial depending on how you consume them.

What Is Super Creatine In Bang Energy Shots?

Super Creatine is a water-stable creatine component developed by VPX Sports that supposedly has the same benefits as creatine.

Creatine is a popular exercise supplement and its main benefits are in enhancing physical performance, specifically in boosting muscle growth and muscle strength.

Super Creatine is apparently easier to be absorbed into the body and can then be broken down into creatine after ingestion, at least, that’s according to VPX Sports.

However, Thermolife International, LLC filed a lawsuit against VPX Sports, stating that Super Creatine didn’t really do all that – rather it was covalently bonded creatine dipeptide which actually turns into creatinine after consumption.

Thermolife complained that “Super Creatine” was a form of a false advertisement on VPX’s part.

Personally, I feel the same way. I don’t believe Super Creatine is special and it’s probably just marketing fluff from the company. However, that’s just my opinion.

If you want to know more about how much Creatine is in Bang energy drinks, I’ve written a detailed article on that here.

What BCAAS Are In Bang Energy Shots?

The Branched-Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) in Bang Energy Shots are L-leucine, L-isoleucine, and L-valine.

BCAAs are important amino acids that are responsible for helping many of your body’s functions, including energy production, blood sugar level regulation, and muscle protein synthesis.

The biggest contributions BCAAs have for you are improving exercise performance and muscle recovery.

A 2006 study found that the supplementation of BCAAs reduced muscle fatigue and soreness during exercise, which proved its benefits in helping muscle recovery after exercise.

I presume the reason BCAAs are added as the ingredients in Bang Shots is to help you perform better physically. However, the BCAAs in Bang Shots are mixed into a 1,878mg energy blend that also consists of 300mg caffeine, Super Creatine, and glycerin.

Hence, we don’t know how many BCAAs are included in Bang Shots and whether it’s adequate to be beneficial to our health.

In my opinion, you shouldn’t depend on Bang Shots for your daily BCAA supply and instead get it from supplements and foods like meat, fish, and eggs.

Also, I did send a can of Bang Energy to a lab to test how many of these BCAAs were ACTUALLY in a can and the results were quite shocking. If Bang Shots are anything like Bang cans, I doubt there’s a significant amount included in the ingredients.

Side-by-side comparison of the vitamin content in Bang Energy Shots and the recommended daily intake.

Bang Energy Shots may have a few vitamins and other seemingly beneficial ingredients, but they won’t do you any good if it doesn’t add up to sufficient quantities.

Bang Shots clearly don’t have enough Vitamin B3 and B6 to have direct benefits for your body.

However, it does contain more than the average recommended amount of Vitamin B12.

Vitamin B12 is important for your body, especially in the brain and nervous system. Vitamin B12 also plays an important role in red blood cell production, energy production, and the synthesis of fatty acids.

Though there aren’t known side effects of excessive Vitamin B12 intake, you should still limit your consumption and consult your doctor if you’re unsure about whether to add Bang Shots to your regular diet.

Are Bang Energy Shots Bad For Your Heart?

Drinking a bottle of Bang Energy Shots will surely give you the energy you need for the day, but it may also increase the risk of heart problems.

Furthermore, caffeine has a known side effect of raising blood pressure and heart rate. According to Healthline, it shouldn’t be a problem if you’re a healthy adult and consume caffeine in moderation.

As Bang Shots don’t have any sugar, it eliminates one of the elements you need to worry about. So, the only ingredient in Bang Shots that may significantly affect your heart health is caffeine.

Bang Energy Shots has a large amount of caffeine, with 300mg in one bottle. That’s quite a lot and can even be overwhelming if you’re sensitive to caffeine.

Bang Energy Shots are clearly for those who are healthy and have a high tolerance to caffeine and prefer a much stronger kick from their caffeine fix.

With that said, make sure to practice a moderate consumption of Bang Shots and stick to a limit of a single bottle per day.

Is It Safe To Drink Bang Shots Every Day?

If you’re a healthy adult without any underlying health problems, I believe it’s safe for you to drink Bang Shots every day as long as you stick to only one bottle per day.

However, the best way to consume Bang Shots is to spread out your consumption throughout the week. This is to avoid your system from being overloaded with too much caffeine since it needs time to be completely absorbed into and expelled from your bloodstream.

If you have any medical conditions, especially those related to your heart, but still want to drink Bang Energy Shots, consult your doctor first before doing so.

Aside from that, you can always go for other energy drinks with more sensible caffeine content.
