ZOA Energy Drink Exposed: An In-Depth Review of Its Benefits

ZOA Energy Drink Exposed: An In-Depth Review of Its Benefits

ZOA Energy drinks made their name as great-tasting, healthy, and upbeat energy drinks by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

ZOA Energy drinks contain moderate caffeine content, just like most energy drinks brands. As you may know, a typical energy drink only has 85-150mg of caffeine. ZOA Energy drinks have 160mg, and that’s not far from what’s familiar.

ZOA Energy focuses on giving importance to your immunity, as it has Vitamin C, Vitamin B, and choline for focus. The five flavors are unique and refreshing. However, a variety six-pack of ZOA costs around $18, with one can priced at around $3 each. This is slightly above the average price point.

The five flavors of ZOA Energy taste differently. In my opinion, they’re actually worth a try and are good to pair with sweet snacks for a much enjoyable experience.

Is Zoa Energy Drink Actually Healthy?

In my opinion, energy drinks are good for a quick boost, but they usually aren’t healthy beverages.

This article claims that ZOA is a “healthy and immunity supporting energy drink,” its maker attests. However, this article also states that energy drinks are linked to obesity, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular issues. Especially the energy drinks that contain lots of sugar and caffeine.

ZOA Energy drink will not give you health problems if you consume only the proper serving. And that’s not harmful at all.

Therefore, try to drink responsibly to avoid harmful effects, which I’ll share with you in a while.

Does ZOA Give You Energy?

While it’s not entirely healthy, ZOA Energy drink is actually good at providing you with energy.

ZOA Energy has 100 calories and 160mg of caffeine. As you may know, the calorie count in a beverage states just how much energy you can get from it. Meanwhile, caffeine can contribute as a stimulant that gives you focus and motivation.

Considering the number of calories and caffeine, it’s undeniable that you can get energy from this beverage. Dwayne Johnson in Men’s Journal agreed to this.

For me, I feel like the 100 calories are already gone in just running and cycling for a few minutes. According to this study, if you think you only need calories to do something extra, you’re wrong. Excessive amounts of calories can actually lead to more fats.

Calories are essential to your body for survival. Without it, your heart and lungs will stop working. This means you need calories to live.

While it can give you a lift, taking more can lead to various harmful effects. This is why the FDA advises you only take a maximum of 400mg of caffeine daily to avoid headaches, nervousness, or dizziness.

Nevertheless, ZOA Energy doesn’t give me any of the mentioned symptoms.

What is ZOA Energy Drink Sweetened With?

Aside from 23g of sugar in ZOA, it also uses some stevia for extra sweetness. You can get stevia from the leaves of the Stevia rebaudiana plant. It’s actually a zero-calorie sweetener which means it doesn’t contribute to the overall calorie count in ZOA Energy.

On the other hand, stevia has potential side effects if consumed excessively. It can lead to the following:

  • Kidney damage
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms
  • Allergic reaction
  • Hypoglycemia or low blood sugar

Because ZOA already has 23g sugar, there’s a chance for you to experience sugar crashes. I experienced slight sugar crashes signs like dizziness and headaches.

Apparently, I found out in this article that if you take more than 24g of sugar if you’re a female or more than 36g if you’re a male, you’re more likely to get sugar crashes.

What Does ZOA Energy Drink Taste Like?

ZOA Energy has five flavors, including the original. Because it’s pretty effective in giving you energy, you can enjoy it more because of its fruity flavor.,thanks to its Camu Camu berries and Acerola Cherries.

Here’s my say on each flavor:

ZOA FlavorMy Opinion
Lemon LimeThis flavor smelled funky, but it tasted good. I have a high standard for lime flavors in energy drinks, so I can say this one is pretty good, minus the smell.
Super BerryIt tastes watery and it’s quite good. However, it’s not enough to make me rebuy it. This flavor reminds me of Sugar-Free Red Bull and Sugar-Free Monster, which is much better in taste and cost.
Wild OrangeI don’t understand why this flavor tastes like pineapple more than orange. However, as you’re about to finish, you’ll notice that the taste gets better. The fruit flavor is there, just the wrong fruit, I guess.
Pineapple CoconutThe coconut taste overpowers the pineapple, which is a total imbalance.
Original  This flavor smells just like a multivitamin. I was pretty relieved that it didn’t have a medicine-like taste when I tried it.
How does each ZOA Flavor taste?

Have I mentioned ZOA Energy has a sugar-free version? Does this one taste the same as the Original? Here’s a video that can help you get your answers.

Where To Buy ZOA Energy Drinks?

If you’re interested in trying ZOA Energy, you can purchase them on their website. On the other hand, they’re available too on Amazon with a slight difference in their prices.

You can usually get a 12-can pack of ZOA Energy for around $30. This means that each can of ZOA Energy costs around $2.50.

In my opinion, it’s a bit too pricey. I usually prefer energy drinks that cost $1-$1.50 per serving. However, if you have the budget, you should definitely go for ZOA Energy drinks.

Alternative Energy Drinks

Moreover, if you want energy drinks that won’t make you experience sugar crashes and is also available at a much cheaper value, here are energy drinks that you should try.

Advocare Spark

Advocare Spark is also a good option because it’s sugar-free. It has taurine, B vitamins, choline, and L-Tyrosine.

On the other hand, it has lower caffeine content than ZOA Energy, amounting to only 120mg. You’ll surely get a boost from this despite its lack of calories.

For around $1, you can enjoy a serving of Advocare Spark in Grape, Watermelon, Pink Lemonade, Fruit Punch, Cherry, Mango Strawberry, Mandarin Orange, Green Apple, Limeade, and Blueberry flavors. Because this one is a powdered energy drink, make sure to mix it well so that no powder is left undissolved.

Razorwire

Razorwire contains taurine, guarana, and 150 mg of caffeine. It also has different minerals, giving you improved focus and energy. It’s popular in gaming because it’s proven to increase your reaction time while you’re in your activity.

If you’re planning to cut sugar from your diet, you’ll be glad to know that Razorwire doesn’t contain any sugar. Instead, it uses a sugar substitute called sucralose to make the beverage sweet.

When you buy this energy drink on their official website, you’ll get a free sample sachet with free delivery.

REIZE (Highly-Recommended)

REIZE is my favorite and I prefer this over ZOA Energy because it has just the right amount of caffeine at 50mg.

Aside from that, it also has no sugar and just 11 calories, ensuring that you won’t be experiencing any nasty side effects. Plus, its unique blend contains taurine, ginseng, and B Vitamins which are beneficial for your mental and physical performance.

The Bottomline

Overall, ZOA Energy gets a 7/10 rating from me. This energy drink has just the right amount of calories, caffeine. However, I think it has way more sugar than a lot of other energy drinks.

It’s evident to its ingredients that ZOA Energy is quite beneficial. With this energy drink, you’ll get a clean boost in energy, on par with other beverages packing 160mg of caffeine. Plus, it’s relatively smooth energy that doesn’t kick too intensely.

ZOA energy drink is something you’d have no trouble finishing, but it lacks rich flavor and a unique aftertaste. This inconsistency leaves me putting many other energy drinks ahead, especially REIZE because of its affluent but gentle lime-like taste
