100 Plus Review (Good to Know)

100 Plus Review (Good to Know)

If you’re looking for a great buy, you must try 100 Plus. It’s an isotonic drink designed to keep you hydrated and your thirst quenched! In fact, it’s promoted as being even better than water.

But its biggest feature is that it’s caffeine-free! 100 Plus and all its variants are loaded with vitamins that aim to refresh and reenergize.

The question is, is 100 Plus effective even though it doesn’t have any caffeine? In my opinion, its energy boost isn’t as strong as caffeinated energy drinks, but it replenishes me very well and the flavors are appealing.

Let’s get started.

What Does an Isotonic Drink Do?

Isotonic drinks are filled with salt, sugar, and electrolytes that will help your body replace the fluids you lost in your daily activities.

If you’re an athlete or do workouts often, isotonic drinks can be very helpful in keeping your energy up. When you lose too many fluids, you’ll feel weak and dizzy.

Brands like Gatorade and Powerade are considered isotonic drinks as they contain a high concentration of electrolytes. They are considered a better option than water when it comes to rehydration because they contain much-needed minerals that will keep you going.

Is 100 Plus Good for Your Health?

Yes, it can be, as the drink contains glucose, minerals, and electrolytes to keep your body energized and hydrated. It can also help your body recover faster after strenuous activities.

Nutritional Information of 100 Plus

Back of 100 Plus
What’s at the back of 100 Plus?

I suppose you cannot read the label because it’s written in Malaysian. Let’s take a look at its ingredients in English:

Carbohydrates18.9g
Sugar18.9g
Here’s the English version of what’s on the picture.

Apart from the contents above, you can also find the following in a can of 100 Plus:

  • Carbonated Water
  • Sucrose
  • Glucose
  • Sodium Citrate
  • Sodium Chloride
  • Potassium Phosphate
  • Ascorbic Acid
  • Stevia Extract
  • Calcium Phosphate

Sugar Content

100 Plus Original has 18.9g of sugar. Sugar is our top source of energy. In my opinion, the sugar in 100 Plus is quite an above-average amount of sugar for an energy drink.

Aside from the added flavor, the right amount of sugar can also give you higher energy levels and a more robust immune system

You must be thinking of consuming more, but that isn’t a good idea. You have to be very careful with your sugar intake, as going above the safe level can cause you discomfort such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Headaches
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Excess sweat

Here is the daily sugar limit suggested by the AHA, it would be best if you took note of:

GenderSugar
Women24g
Men36g

Calorie Content

Apart from that, 100 Plus can give you 75g of calories. A calorie is basically the unit of energy you can find in 100 Plus. The higher the amount, the higher power it can give you.

However, if you’re looking for a sugar-free and calorie-free version of 100 Plus, you can go with its 100 Plus Zero Sugar. Just like the original, it has the same great taste with lots of minerals and electrolytes.

Is 100 Plus Healthy?

You might be wondering how the little ingredients in 100 Plus can still make the entire drink healthy. I have some of the answers in this table:

ContentsFunctions
Ascorbic AcidAlso known as vitamin C. It aids in the growth and repair of all body tissues. 100 Plus also helps the muscles in your body to recover after exercise.
Carbonated WaterThis is good for your digestion and can improve your swallowing. You also won’t feel hunger quickly, and it can reduce constipation. And that also means less disruption to your daily routine.
Stevia ExtractProvides a sweet taste without extra calories for you to burn.
Helpful Ingredients in 100 Plus.

Should You Drink 100 Plus After Exercise?

Yes, and you can also take a few sips during your exercise. 100 Plus will energize you and also give your body enough electrolytes during your workout session.

Every day we lose a lot of water in our bodies. In fact, when you sleep, you can still lose water because of exhalation and perspiration. This might be either because of your dream or your body and room temperature.

Remember all those times you wake up feeling thirsty? Well, this is the reason. Even doing nothing and just sitting in an airconditioned room can dehydrate you.

So how much more when you exercise? A study found that fluid losses due to sweating can affect your capacity to work and move around. This is a big factor why I personally think, drinking 100 Plus is suitable for your workout.

100 Plus Flavor Review

If you’re worried about the taste and perhaps want to know just a little information before you try. Here are the 100 Plus’ different flavors and how you can distinguish between them:

100 Plus Original – Looks plain on the outside but a beast on the inside. This drink has lowkey ingredients but with lots of benefits to offer.

100 Plus Tangy Tangerine – This one’s tasty orange taste is perfect for hydration after exercise. I like how fresh the flavor is and I’m sure those who love their fruit juices will take a liking to this.

100 Plus Lemon Lime –This one is my favorite flavor of 100 Plus. Similar to the Tangy Tangerine flavor, you can taste natural fresh citrus with this one. I gotta tell you, I finished this in just a few gulps.

100 Plus Berries – Pretty sweet but not my type. I think the berry flavor is a bit too strong, but still pretty effective in hydrating me.

100 Plus Active – As I’ve mentioned before, this one is sugar-free and calorie-free. If you plan to drink more than a can per day, you can go with this one. The benefits and the taste are just both great.

Is Pocari Sweat or 100PLUS better?

It is dependent on individual preferences. Some people prefer the taste of Pocari Sweat, while others prefer the taste of 100PLUS.

Pocari Sweat is a Japanese sports drink that dates back to 1980. Its purpose is to replace electrolytes and fluids lost during exercise. Meanwhile,100PLUS is a sports drink introduced in Malaysia in 2002. It contains more electrolytes than Pocari Sweat and is intended to help people rehydrate after physical activity.

Where Can You Buy 100 Plus?

All of these flavors are available in stores in Asia. However, if you’re from the United States, it’ll be difficult for you to find them in-store.

But you can still get them on Amazon in a set of 6 when they’re available. It can cost up to $2 per piece. That’s just a fair amount for a drink.

Energy Drink Alternatives to 100 Plus

If you didn’t like anything about 100 Plus, don’t worry, I can still suggest a few, including my favorite.

Carabao Energy

Carabao Energy will give you 105mg of caffeine, 4.5g of sugar, and 63 calories. This energy drink is vegan-friendly and contains the most natural and organic ingredients. But then, it also tastes like soda.

Compared to 100 Plus, this energy drink has an average amount of caffeine, and that’s a good thing. It’s also gluten-free and lactose-free that has B vitamins and other nutrients. You can buy this too on Amazon in a set of 3 for around $15.

It has six unique flavors, including the original. All of which taste amazing!

Sting

Sting is proudly a Pepsi-Cola product. It comes with 200mg of caffeine and 34.3g of sugar. It also has taurine and essential vitamins that can power your day.

Just make sure to take just one can for a day as it has a relatively high amount of sugar and caffeine. Nevertheless, it can provide you with the same refreshing taste as that of 100 Plus.

It has three nutritious flavors starting with Gold Rush that is packed with Malunggay. Malunggay is a vegetable that is a fine source of Vitamin B, C, D, and E. It can strengthen your vision and have lots of benefits for your immune system.

Aside from Gold Rush, it also has Power Lime and Berry Blast, both refreshing and sweet. All of them are a good source of energy. It’s only around $6 per 24 cans on Alibaba.

REIZE (The Best)

For me, REIZE is better than 100 Plus. It’s easy to find, tastes good, and is just great value for your money.

First of all, it’s in a powdered form. It’s pretty more flexible to carry. Plus, you can put it in your favorite water container and mix it everywhere.

It has only 50mg of caffeine, which is a fair amount for me. It can provide you with enough energy for your work, and you don’t have to worry much about the chances of having a caffeine overdose.

REIZE has a fresh and fizzy carbonated flavor that I find really refreshing after a workout. And you won’t experience any crashes too because REIZE is sugar-free. Among its other nutrients are Inositol, Taurine, Ginseng, and B Vitamins, all good for the brain and body.

Give REIZE a try today for only around $1! I bet you’ll discover just how amazing it is.

Final Say

Overall, I’d give 100 Plus an 8/10 rating. It’s just the right amount of sugar and being caffeine-free that makes me want to recommend it for almost everyone.

The drink is suitable for those who are pretty active in the gym as it’s a great hydrating drink. It’s also a good option for those who are caffeine-sensitive or want to quit caffeine since it’s caffeine-free but will still energize you.

100 Plus also has quite a few options for you. I personally liked the Lemon Lime one the best, but they also have sugar-free and non-carbonated variants available.

All in all, you can’t go wrong with 100 Plus if you’re looking for a hydrating drink that won’t let you down during your workouts. Enjoy!
