Extra Joss: Go Deep into the Comprehensive Nutrition Facts

If you’re looking for a beverage that could give you an extra boost, energy drinks are just one of the few things that would come to your mind.

While a refreshing drink can also motivate you to do better, it’s still nice to find an energy drink with boosting and refreshing properties.

In brief, Extra Joss is a well-known energy drink in Asia created to provide you with a quick energy boost. It has a minimal 50 mg of caffeine as well as B Vitamins, Korean ginseng, taurine, and other energy-boosting properties.

If you’re interested in knowing about the nutritional value that Extra Joss can offer you, read on!

What is Extra Joss?

Extra Joss comes in a powdered sachet with 50mg of caffeine for a quick overview. It’s actually advertised as an energy drink for hard laborers and it quickly became a popular brand in Southeast Asia.

It’s pretty straightforward since it comes in small sachets that you can mix in water. In just 10 minutes, the kick from its caffeine will surely follow.

The basic premise of the brand is what makes it a go-to energy drink brand. It only really has one flavor though, but that’s part of its charm!

Does Extra Joss Have Caffeine?

As stated on its ingredients list, a sachet of Extra Joss has 50mg of caffeine.

You can compare it to your typical cup of black tea. This explains how one sachet could already keep you awake and strong.

However, there are nutrients in Extra Joss that can’t be found in your tea, such as taurine and B vitamins. Moreover, I think Extra Joss is easier to prepare than your tea.

This could make you think it’s okay to consume over four sachets of Extra Joss because you won’t likely overdose on caffeine. But, this isn’t a good idea.

The FDA suggests a 400mg daily caffeine limit if you don’t know already. If you happen to go past that amount of caffeine, it can lead to health problems such as:

  • Caffeine Addiction
  • Caffeine Dependency
  • Anxiety
  • Acne Problems
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle breakdown
  • Insomnia
  • Rapid heart rate
  • High blood pressure

Does Extra Joss Have Sugar?

Back of Extra Joss Sachet.
Before I forget, you can also see its ingredients at the back of its sachet.

Extra Joss is sugar-free.

Sugar-free products are suitable for those who are on a diet or those who are diabetics.

Even though Extra Joss doesn’t contain any sugar, you still have to familiarize just how much sugar you need in your body.

According to AHA, the recommended amount of sugar per day is 25g for women and 36g for men. This means that taking an excessive amount of sugar can cause side effects like:

  • Diabetes
  • Weight gain
  • Obesity
  • Sugar Crashes
  • Cardiovascular diseases
  • High blood pressure
  • Skin Aging

If you’re looking for other sugar-free energy drinks, you should read this article.

But if you’re worried that Extra Joss will taste weird without the sugar, then you should know that it uses artificial sweeteners instead.

Acesulfame Potassium and Aspartame are both FDA-approved and calorie-free, making them a nice alternative to natural sugar. Ace K in particular does have a bitter taste which is why it’s blended with the sweet Aspartame.

Is Extra Joss Safe for People with Diabetes?

Yes. As I’ve mentioned, sugar-free products can help your insulin levels.

If you have diabetes and your body has more insulin than you need, it can result in a low blood sugar level and hypoglycemia. Although Extra Joss won’t lower your insulin levels, what’s important is it won’t add some to it.

Aside from the absence of natural sugar, low-calorie products are also suitable for diabetic people. It helps them maintain their body’s health and energy metabolism.

Benefits of Extra Joss

Extra Joss is different from other energy drinks because it uses Royal Jelly. This is a new one in the energy drinks industry. Apart from that, you can get other beneficial content from it such as:

Royal Jelly

Royal Jelly is seldom found in energy drinks. It comes from honey and is used as medicine in some countries. It is said to prevent cancer and decrease your chances of having coronary diseases.

Apart from that, Royal Jelly is good for your skin. Except for the energy boost, Royal Jelly in Extra Joss cares for both your eye and skin.

Ginseng Extract

It’s customarily a homegrown medication famous in China because it can strengthen your immune system. It’s common for an energy drink to have ginseng extract because this can be a source of caffeine too.

In addition, it also further develops mental capacities, memory, and mindset. In a group of athletes, ginseng extract improved their physical performance and recovery time. I would say this is perfect to match with taurine.

Taurine

This amino acid called taurine is generally made in your body. It penetrates as a structure block for proteins in charge of developing and fixing your body tissues. It also supports distributing electrolytes to your body to keep your body fluids balanced.

A dose of taurine during weight lifting and other intense workouts helps your muscles in a way you won’t imagine. It can prevent muscle damage and soreness. Therefore, there’s no problem if you take it before or after your workout.

B-Vitamins

B vitamins are a group of essential vitamins that handle your system’s metabolism speed. Aside from that, it’s also known to help your body convert the products you take into energy.

However, they’re still grouped into eight vitamins. Watch this video to know the effects of B vitamins on your body.

The essential B-vitamins in Extra Joss and their primary functions are explained.

Is Extra Joss Bad for You?

While energy drinks like Extra Joss aren’t healthy, they’re not that bad either. Extra Joss has just the right amount of ingredients.

Its significant ingredients increase your body’s endurance and sharpen your senses like caffeine. On the other hand, it would help if you didn’t consume much of this beverage to ensure you won’t suffer any side effects.

Did I already mention that royal jelly causes stomach aches and bronchospasm if often used? This perhaps is another thing you should consider too.

It’s only appropriate to drink Extra Joss twice a day per this article’s advice. Aside from that, I don’t think there’s a need for you to take Extra Joss out of craving.

If you aren’t having a busy day, you can also skip Extra Joss for a day or two.

Alternative Energy Drinks to Extra Joss

While it’s inevitable that Extra Joss can give you a decent lift, it’s not wrong to try other energy drinks. Here are my top suggestions for you.

Sting

Sting Energy drink is proudly Asian-made too. Although it has nutrients like Vitamin C, B, magnesium, and taurine, it’s not the right one for you if you’re caffeine sensitive.

It has 200mg of caffeine and 34.3g of sugar. So aside from the chances of having a caffeine crash, there’s also a possibility of sugar crashes.

Nevertheless, it’s a strong energy drink that could satisfy energy cravings for a long time. If you stick to one serving of Sting Energy per day, I think you’re less likely to encounter any side effects from it.

100 Plus

This isotonic drink contains glucose, electrolytes, and minerals. All of these can help you with sweating activities like biking. It lacks caffeine, which makes it a perfect option for caffeine-sensitive individuals.

It has Absorbic Acid and 18.9g of sugar. Still, you should remember to restrict yourself to two cans to avoid sugar crashes.

It’s mostly promoted as a beverage that can help you with hydration. But what’s more stunning is that it can energize you more than water can for only $2 per can.

REIZE (My Favorite)

REIZE energy drink also comes in a powdered sachet. It has B vitamins, ginseng, taurine, 50mg of caffeine. It’s like Extra Joss but better, not to mention it has no added sugar as well.

Just like Extra Joss, you can also mix REIZE anywhere and anytime you want. It has a great-quality powder that won’t make a residue in your favorite container.

You can get REIZE for only around $1 and have your orders delivered straight to your door.

Bottomline

Generally, Extra Joss is a handy energy drink for light to moderate activities. It’s rich in ingredients that are beneficial for your body.

One mix of Extra Joss could be great, but there’s nothing that could replace a healthy and balanced lifestyle. You should always follow a well-balanced diet and drink enough water.

That said, it’s still good to look for energy supplements as they can help you make the most out of your exercises.
