Game Fuel energy drink is manufactured under Pepsico’s Mountain Dew brand. I guess this is why Mountain Dew Kickstart and Game Fuel are always mentioned together. There’s even a Game Fuel Mountain Dew flavor as well.

If you’re actually looking to compare Mountain Dew and Game Fuel Mountain Dew variants, you should check out this article instead.

Back to Game Fuel: a regular can has 90 calories, 23 grams of sugar, and 90 mg of caffeine. It also has lots of vitamins which will improve your physical performance.

The law requires the manufacturers to label the serving sizes and servings per package properly. The label should also include the amount per content.

However, there are instances in which the ingredients are just plainly listed on the label. This is because it only contains a minimal amount and cannot lead to negative results.

Here are what’s on the label of Game Fuel:

Some ingredients of Game Fuel and their benefits

Does Game Fuel Have Sugar?

Yes, Game Fuel has a pretty high amount of sugar.

As I have mentioned earlier, Game Fuel has 23 grams of sugar. Sugar is one of the ingredients that provide us with energy.

However, consuming an excessive amount of sugar can lessen your energy instead of increasing it. When you consume sugar that is over the recommended intake, you may experience a sugar crash.

Sugar crashes happen when sugar drops down to a certain level or lower. It’s like the energy was at max and suddenly comes crashing down, leading to some side effects:

  • Hunger
  • Irritability
  • Fatigue
  • Discomfort
  • Anxiety
  • Headaches
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Excess sweat

To avoid this, always consume the right amount of sugar per day. The AHA suggests that you should consume less than 100 calories of sugar per day if you’re a woman. For men, limit yourself to 150 calories of sugar per day.

100 calories are equivalent to 24g of sugar, while 150 calories are 36g. Therefore, you should limit yourself to only one can of Game Fuel per day. This way you can stay safe and enjoy sugary energy drinks regularly.

Does Game Fuel Have Calories?

Absolutely! It has around 90 calories.

You need around 2500 calories per day. But this amount still depends on your lifestyle. If you exercise a lot, a few more calories won’t make any difference.

In doing half an hour of cardiovascular exercise, you can burn around 140 to 295 calories. This means you can quickly burn the calories inside a 16 fl. oz of Game Fuel.

However, if you still prefer zero-calorie energy drinks, you can check the list in this article.

Does Game Fuel Use Artificial Sweeteners?

Despite having a high amount of sugar content, Game Fuel contains two artificial sweeteners. Game Fuel uses sucralose and acesulfame potassium. However, these two sweeteners do not add any calories to your energy drink.

The good news is both sucralose and acesulfame potassium are FDA-approved. So, as long as you aren’t consuming many drinks with artificial sweeteners on the same day, you shouldn’t experience any side effects.

In fact, certain studies suggest that artificial sweeteners are better since they’re usually calorie-free and sweeter than table sugar.

However, the use of sweeteners doesn’t mean that you won’t be addicted to sugar if you take too much. Bear in mind this recommended daily intake for sweeteners:

Artificial SweetenerAcceptable Daily Intake
Sucralose5mg for each kilogram of your body weight
Acesulfame Potassium15mg of Ace-K per one kilogram of your body weight each day
Sucralose and Ace-K Daily Limit

How Much Caffeine Does A Can Of Game Fuel Contain?

There’s 90mg of caffeine per 16 fl. oz can of Game Fuel.

I think it’s a pretty low amount considering a lot of energy drinks have their caffeine content set between 100 to 300mg. The caffeine in Game Fuel is just similar to a morning cup of coffee.

Nevertheless, you should watch your intake and take note of the caffeine intake limit of no more than 400mg per day. Any more than what is suggested might lead you to experience the following:

  • Insomnia
  • Restlessness
  • Headaches
  • Stomachaches
  • Dizziness
  • Anxiety

Is It Okay To Drink Game Fuel Every Day?

Yes, you can. But, I think you should limit yourself to one can of Game Fuel per day.

While there’s nothing wrong with consuming it every day, I think you need to keep your body away from consuming too much. All of the Game Fuel contents are safe, but I wouldn’t recommend being dependent on it.

My recommendation is that you limit yourself to no more than one can of Game Fuel each day if you want to make it a habit. You may safely consume this without worrying about exceeding your daily allotment of sugar, calories, or caffeine.

Here’s a video that can help you decide:

Game Fuel Energy Drink Alternatives

Energy Drinks of Different Brands
If Game Fuel doesn’t get your vibe, you can try these drinks instead.

Reign

Reign is sure to run your daily workout nicely.

Each 16 fl. oz. can of Reign has 300mg of caffeine which comes from green coffee beans and tea leaves. This amount is pretty high, so I suggest one is enough to get you through the day.

It has just a low-calorie count and has pretty unique, flavors. It also uses sucralose and acesulfame potassium as its artificial sweetener.

C4 Energy

If you just want caffeine and no sugar or calories at all, I suggest you go with C4 Energy.

It won’t get in the way of your diet because it lacks calories. Each 16 fl. oz can of C4 has 200mg of caffeine.

If you can handle two to three cups of coffee per day, this amount is not that high. In my case, I prefer caffeine content between 50mg to 150mg only. Aside from caffeine, C4 energy drink is rich in B vitamins and amino acids.

Again, if you have a high tolerance for caffeine, C4 energy drink shouldn’t be harmful to you.

REIZE (The Best)

While Game Fuel is doing a pretty good job, I find REIZE to be even better.

REIZE is a 4g powdered energy drink with only 50mg of caffeine. It’s a proud sugar-free energy drink with 11 calories per serving. This means you’ll get everything you need without worrying about pesky side effects.

Final Say

Considering its contents, Game Fuel will definitely give you a pretty good boost whenever you need one. You can just grab this in any convenience store or have it delivered online.

It doesn’t have too much caffeine or sugar. I recommend Game Fuel if you’re new to energy drinks, as it is pretty mild and nutritious at the same time.

You might want to add more caffeine if you’re a gamer. However, for me, it just has the right amount of caffeine. And having too much might lead you to problems like trouble sleeping.

All-in-all, whether you’re a gamer or in sports, Game Fuel is definitely a pretty good choice if you need a push.
