What Flavours Does Xyience Energy Have?

These are the flavours for Xyience Energy:

  • Cherry Lime
  • Mango Guava
  • Frostberry Blast
  • Blue Pomegranate
  • Cran Razz
  • Fruit Punch
  • Tangerine
  • Melon Mayhem
  • Fuji Apple
  • Wild Grape

With such a wide variety of choices, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

What Is Guarana Seed Extract?

Guarana seed extract comes from the seed of the guarana plant, of Brazilian origin. The guarana plant is well recognized for its stimulatory properties.

Guarana naturally contains caffeine, which can supply you with the energy boost that you need. Guarana is also known to reduce fatigue, promote weight loss and improve brain functions.

An interesting fact about guarana is that the seeds actually contain more natural caffeine compared to coffee beans.

1g of guarana is supposed to be equivalent to 40mg of caffeine.

That’s a pretty high amount.

This is why guarana is an ingredient you need to watch out for. Usually, the caffeine content in guarana is not added to the total caffeine amount in energy drinks. So, you’re likely to consume more caffeine than what’s displayed on the can.

What Artificial Sweeteners Does Xyience Contain?

Xyience energy drink contains artificial sweeteners like sucralose and acesulfame potassium. They’re commonly found in reduced sugar or sugar-free foods and drinks as substitutes for sugar.

Artificial sweeteners are popular alternatives to sugar as they’re lower in calories and have an intense sweetness that’s comparable to table sugar. Both sucralose and acesulfame potassium are approved as non-nutritive sweeteners by the FDA.

So be rest assured that these sweeteners you find in Xyience are safe.

Xyience might claim to contain “natural flavours”, but it also contains artificial sweeteners.

Are artificial sweeteners bad for you?

Artificial sweeteners are safe for human consumption and aren’t bad if you consume them in moderation. They do have their advantages in terms of weight management, dental hygiene, and blood sugar control although the long-term effects are not known.

You’ve probably heard of the potential benefits of artificial sweeteners but are they better than regular sugar as publicised?

Well, artificial sweeteners have fewer calories and can help you lose some weight. They’re also better for your oral health as they don’t carry the same dental risk as sugar does. As they aren’t carbohydrates, you’re less likely to get cavities after consuming them.

They’re also helpful if you have diabetes or if you’re reducing your sugar intake because artificial sweeteners don’t raise your blood sugar levels. Though, I’d suggest consulting your doctor before using any sugar substitutes.

But the usage of sucralose and acesulfame potassium in some of our daily food and drinks has been somewhat controversial.

There aren’t many studies available that have actually proven the benefits of artificial sweeteners and their long-term effect on our health.

Sucralose, commonly sold under the brand Splenda, is around 600 times sweeter than sugar. While sucralose alone is calorie-free, Splenda on the other hand contains glucose and maltodextrin, which increases its calorie content to 3.36 per gram.

Sucralose supposedly won’t raise your blood sugar or insulin levels. But studies may have found evidence that those who consume artificial sweeteners regularly are likely to experience little increments in their blood sugar levels compared to people who don’t.

A small study carried out on 17 obese individuals who don’t frequently consume artificial sweeteners reported that sucralose had increased their insulin levels by 20% and blood sugar levels by 14%.

On the contrary, sucralose didn’t have a profound effect on healthy adults with no medical conditions, including those who regularly consumed artificial sweeteners.

In the case of acesulfame potassium, it’s about 200 times sweeter than sugar and it’s regularly mixed with other sweeteners to mask its bitter aftertaste.

A study reported that acesulfame potassium may cause an increase in the amount of sugar absorbed by the gut.

Another study conducted on pregnant women found that consuming artificially-sweetened drinks can lead to premature delivery.

Like most new and recent chemicals, there aren’t enough studies carried out about artificial sweeteners for scientists and researchers to confirm the side effects associated with sucralose and acesulfame potassium.

Only data collected over time will tell whether these chemicals pose health risks for us in the long run or not.

What Nutrients Do Xyience Energy Drinks Contain?

Xyience energy drinks contain taurine, inositol, L-carnitine, and B vitamins.

More info about these ingredients is discussed below.

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid that plays several roles in important body functions. According to Medicalnewstoday, taurine is vital for:

  • regulating calcium levels
  • balancing electrolytes in the body
  • creating bile salts
  • supporting nervous system development

Taurine can be taken as a supplement and is also often found in energy drinks.

The benefits of taurine include promoting better blood sugar levels, protecting the eyes and muscles, and enhancing heart health. For the most part, taurine is added as one of the ingredients in energy drinks because it helps improve exercise performance.

There are plenty of studies to back this statement as well. A 2010 study involving 11 cyclists reported that taurine can increase the body’s ability to burn fat during exercise.

In another study on middle-distance runners, it was found that the consumption of taurine improved their performance by 1.7% during a 3-km treadmill run.

It was discovered that taurine didn’t only enhance physical performance, but also lower the risk of muscle damage and oxidative stress, especially those that are induced by high-intensity exercises.

Based on existing evidence, taurine doesn’t cause any side effects. Still, you shouldn’t go overboard with your taurine intake and follow the instructions from your supplement manufacturer.

Taurine can be consumed in quantities of 500mg – 2000mg per day. Even so, I doubt that a 16 fl. oz can of Xyience contains all that much taurine. As stated on the ingredient label, there are only trace amounts of it in each can.

Inositol

Sometimes referred to as Vitamin B8, inositol apparently plays an important role in your cells and insulin levels.

Inositol can be beneficial in terms of:

  • reducing anxiety
  • improving insulin sensitivity (the opposite of insulin resistance thus improving blood sugar levels)
  • reducing symptoms of depression
  • helping in weight loss

L-carnitine

Like taurine, L-carnitine is an amino acid that’s commonly taken as a weight loss supplement.

L-carnitine can help enhance cognitive functions, improve heart health and lower the risk of diabetes. It might also be useful in improving physical performance, though the benefits of L-carnitine won’t be clear until several weeks or months later.

How much L-carnitine is there in a can of Xyience?

We don’t know, that info isn’t displayed, so I’m going to assume it’s only a very small amount until proven otherwise.

B vitamins

Every can of Xyience Energy contains B vitamins, namely vitamins B3, B5, B6, and B12.

B vitamins are important in maintaining your health and well-being. As such, they have significant effects on your energy levels, cell metabolism, and brain functions.

Besides preventing infections, B vitamins can improve or support:

  • cell health
  • red blood cell production
  • healthy cognitive functions
  • eye health
  • digestion
  • cardiovascular health
  • cholesterol and hormone production

But these benefits shouldn’t be the reason for chugging multiple cans of Xyience every day. This could lead to undesirable side effects caused by the excessive consumption of energy drinks.

The specific amounts of B vitamins in a serving of Xyience are pretty much unknown and might possibly not line up with the daily B vitamins intake.

Plus, you can overdose on B vitamins and may end up with health conditions like:

  • blurry visions
  • skin flushing
  • abdominal cramps
  • vomiting
  • nausea
  • excessive thirst
  • diarrhea

To ensure you don’t overdose on B vitamins, you can refer to the FDA’s recommended daily intake.

Is It Safe To Consume Xyience Energy Drink Every Day?

In my opinion, you can drink Xyience energy drink every day if you consume it in moderation. Excessive consumption could possibly lead to unwanted side effects.

It’s perfectly safe to consume Xyience every day as long as you don’t overdo it. If you have a pre-existing medical condition, you should check with your doctor before consuming any energy drink or caffeinated beverage.

I’d suggest limiting your consumption of Xyience to only one or two cans in a day.

Why this amount, you might ask?

A can of Xyience contains 179mg of caffeine, a quantity that should be taken seriously. With this amount, Xyience has earned a place as one of the stronger energy drinks available in the market.

By the time you consume two cans of this beverage, you would’ve drunk as much as 358mg of caffeine! That’s putting your caffeine intake close to the FDA’s daily recommended caffeine intake, which is around 400mg.

4 cans of Xyience side by side
With 179mg of caffeine in every can, Xyience packs a punch.

An overdose of caffeine could lead to side effects such as:

  • diarrhea
  • dizziness
  • insomnia
  • headache
  • fever

Even if Xyience contains sugar alternatives, that doesn’t make it any healthier as it has preservatives that aren’t exactly good for your body and might damage your health over time.

Take note that Xyience isn’t suitable for children under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and people who have a low tolerance for caffeine.

You should also avoid drinking Xyience with alcohol or mixing both drinks together.

If you’re wondering if Xyience is bad for you, check out my other article where I cover things in a lot more detail than I have here.

Energy drinks can have unwanted side effects if consumed in excess.

How Long Do Xyience Energy Drinks Take To Work?

The caffeine in Xyience energy drinks should generally take about 45 minutes to work. Since caffeine has a half-life of 5-6 hours, there’ll probably be about 90mg of caffeine left in your body after 5 hours have passed.

How quickly the caffeine in Xyience kicks in depends on your tolerance to caffeine. If you’re sensitive to caffeine or have a low tolerance for caffeine, you’ll probably feel the effects faster than those who’re used to consuming it on a regular basis.

Where To Buy Xyience Energy Drink And Price

A can of Xyience energy drink costs around $4, but prices vary depending on where you find it.

As to where you can buy Xyience, you most likely can find these energy drinks in your local stores like Walmart and Target.

You can also always check out online sites like Amazon to see if they have Xyience Energy in stock. Sometimes there are some good deals to be found online.
