But you might wonder, what exactly do you get out of a 500ml can of Mother Energy aside from great taste? And how much nutrients can it give you?

Briefly, Mother Energy Drink Original does provide you with the energy boost you need, though it does have a high sugar content, which can lead to sugar crashes and serious health issues if taken excessively.

As you can see, the ingredients in Mother Energy Drink are pretty standard for an energy drink, so I think it’s perfectly alright to drink them as long as they’re taken in moderation.

How Many Calories Does Mother Energy Drink Have?

A 500ml can of Mother Energy Drink Original has about 228 calories, while the Sugar-Free version has 23 calories.

If you’re on a strict diet, Mother Energy Sugar-Free is the ideal one for you as it only contains 23 calories which are about one-tenth of the Original. They also carry the same great taste as the original version.

But, if you don’t mind trading a few hours to burn off calories for the sugar rush you’ll get from Mother Energy Original, I’d say go for it.

Keep in mind that it’s important to know your limit and not go overboard when drinking a high-calorie energy drink.

Healthy young adults are recommended the daily calorific limit of 2000 – 2400 calories for women and 2400 – 3000 calories for men.

When you combine the 228 calories from Mother Energy with the food and drink you have, it’s possible to go over the daily limit of calories, so make sure you take note of your caloric intake.

How Much Sugar Does Mother Energy Drink Have?

While Mother-Energy Sugar-Free is sugar-free, the original version of the energy drink has 51g of sugar per 500ml can.

Props to Mother Energy for including a sugar-free version of the energy drink, as the 51g of sugar in just a single can of Mother Energy Original does seem a little worrying.

Considering that the AHA recommends 36g as the maximum limit of daily sugar intake for both men and women, you’ll definitely think twice before purchasing a can of Mother Energy Original.

While there’s no doubt you’ll get plenty of energy surge from Mother Energy Original, its high sugar content will also leave you with a crash after. This due to a sharp drop in blood sugar levels.

By now you’re probably aware of the dangers of consuming too much sugar in your diet like:

  • Declined dental health
  • Increase risks of heart disease

How Much Caffeine Does Mother Energy Drink Have?

Mother Energy Original has 160mg of caffeine per 500ml can, while the sugar-free version has 1mg less caffeine at 159mg.

Caffeine is one of the main stimulants of all energy drinks as it helps increase energy levels, lessen tiredness and improve mental function.

While there may be other stronger energy drinks with a higher caffeine content than Mother Energy Drink, 160mg of caffeine is also a considerable amount.

According to the FDA, the upper caffeine limit is about 400mg, and any more than that may lead to side effects where the list below shows some of the noticeable side-effects of over-consuming caffeine:

  • Anxiety
  • Shakiness
  • Restlessness
  • Nausea
  • Muscle aches
  • Increased heart rate

Personally, I prefer to have energy drinks that only contain about 50mg to 100mg of caffeine as it’s the perfect amount for me to get the energy boost I need but without the side effects after.

That said, you should avoid combining energy drinks with other caffeinated food and beverages (such as tea and coffee) as they can very easily tip you over the limit.

Are There Artificial Sweeteners In Mother Energy Drink?

Mother Energy Sugar-Free has zero-calorie artificial sweeteners, such as sucralose, and acesulfame potassium, which are used to substitute the absence of regular sugar in the energy drink.

Not only do artificial sweeteners give about 200 to 600 times more sweet flavouring than sugar, but it also doesn’t leave you with all that guilt that comes with consuming unnecessary calories.

While you may be concerned, you don’t need to worry too much about the use of Sucralose and Acesulfame Potassium in food products as they’ve been approved by the FDA.

However, it’s best to limit your artificial sweeteners consumption to a minimum due to some uncertainties of the ingredient.

Mother Energy Drink B-Vitamins

There’s no surprise that Mother Energy has B-Vitamins, as they are pretty common in energy drinks and can be beneficial for your health.

While the B-Vitamins gives a healthy addition to Mother Energy, you should choose dietary supplements if you need more substantial B-Vitamins in your diet.

Can Mother Energy Affect My Health?

Although Mother Energy is good for a quick boost of energy or burning the midnight oil, the downside is that it has an unhealthy amount of caffeine and sugar, and may negatively affect your health in excess.

It all boils down to how well you adapt to the drink and what you’re drinking it for. It’s fine to drink it once in a while but keep in mind that it’s not the best option for an everyday energy drink.

While Mother Energy has a standard caffeine level like most energy drinks, its sugar content is quite alarming and may lead to serious health problems if you don’t control your limit.

Clearly, the sugar content in Mother Energy (51g per 500ml) is alarmingly high, so I personally wouldn’t want a drink that’s as sugary as this one to be included in my diet.
