Caffeine and Ingredients in Livita Energy Drink (Detailed)

Caffeine and Ingredients in Livita Energy Drink (Detailed)

Lipovitan is one of the most well-known energy drink brands in Asia. In English-speaking countries, Lipovitan is marketed under the name Livita.

Unlike your conventional energy drinks, Livita comes in a pretty small bottle (3 fl. oz). Available in both carbonated and non-carbonated versions, it’s sure to give you a nice energy boost.

Besides caffeine, Livita contains specially formulated ingredients designed to energize you physically and mentally.

The unconventional mix of antioxidants with the large amount of taurine in Livita play an important role in maintaining a healthy heart and keeping your energy at optimum levels.

Let’s do a little digging on Livita Energy as we go along!

What are the ingredients in Livita Energy Drink?

Each 3 fl. oz bottle of Livita contains:

  • 72 Calories
  • 16.5g Total Carbohydrates
  • 16.5g Sugar
  • 0g Protein
  • 0g Fat
  • 20mg Niacin (111% of the daily recommended value)
  • 2mg Vitamin B1 (143% of the daily recommended value)
  • 2.9mg Vitamin B2 (181% of the daily recommended value)
  • 3.6mg Vitamin B6 (180% of the daily recommended value)
  • 1000mg Taurine

A single bottle (3fl.oz) also contains a small amount of:

  • Inositol
  • Citric Acid
  • Natrium Benzoate
  • Artificial Flavour
  • Pyridoxine

Livita Energy Drink Flavours

  • Regular
  • Honey
  • Tongkat Ali (contains the traditional Asian herb, Tongkat Ali
  • Ex (pineapple flavour – pretty rare and not widely available)
  • Go (carbonated version)

Caffeine Content

Livita Energy contains caffeine but it is not stated on the bottle.

Therefore it’s hard to pinpoint how much caffeine Livita actually contains.

Like many of the best energy drinks, there is a label advising pregnant or breastfeeding women along with children under the age of 18 not to consume the drink.

However, for Livita, I can’t seem to find the label anywhere on the packaging. I’m assuming it’s safe for consumption for all ages and for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

For reference, the FDA proposes a maximum limit of caffeine at 400mg per day for healthy adults.

Sugar Content

A single 3 fl. oz bottle of Livita contains 16.5g of sugar, which is not a lot in my opinion, especially if you drink only a bottle a day.

According to the American Heart Association, adult men should consume no more than 38g of sugar per day and women at 25g of sugar per day. This includes natural sugar that’s commonly found in foods and energy drinks.

For women, drinking one bottle of Livita is fine, but 2 bottles in a day will put you over the daily recommended sugar intake.

Sugar, as we all know, is really bad for you, especially if you consume more than what’s recommended.

Who should drink Livita?

Livita is absolutely perfect for those that are constantly on the go.

It’s a great fix for your energy needs, especially when you’re feeling a little tired or stressed and is generally suitable for adults.

Anyone below the age of 18 probably shouldn’t consume this drink, but check with your healthcare professional for expert advice.

When should you drink Livita?

You can drink Livita any time you want a little extra energy.

Whether it’s early in the morning or late in the evening, you can just pop a bottle and get drinking. But I would definitely recommend you not to drink it close to your bedtime or you might have trouble sleeping afterwards.

What are the side effects of the Livita Energy Drink?

The potential side effects of excessive Livita Energy intake include:

  • weight gain
  • insomnia
  • nervousness
  • restlessness
  • fatigue
  • sugar crashes
  • increased heart rate
  • dehydration
  • poor dental health
  • kidney stones
  • allergic reactions
  • diabetes

How many Livita can I drink in a day?

You can drink more than 1 in a day, but it is not recommended.

First things first, it doesn’t state on the bottle how much caffeine is in it, so there’s no way of knowing.

The lack of clarity about how much caffeine is in a bottle is still causing concern.

Also, another thing to keep an eye on is sugar levels.

A single serving of Livita contains 16.5 mg of sugar. For women, just two servings of Livita puts them above the recommended daily intake which can pose a threat to their health.

Consuming too much sugar for a long period of time may lead to serious health issues.

If you’re in the market looking for sugar-free energy drinks, check out my recommendations in this article.

Can one bottle of Livita kill you?

No, I don’t think one bottle of Livita can kill you.

However, an important caveat to that is that you shouldn’t have any pre-existing health conditions.

Just like with any energy drink, it’s always better to drink them in moderation.

Sure, a single bottle might not do you any harm, but drinking too much can definitely cause some serious health issues.

Can kids drink Livita?

Children should definitely not drink Livita. Anyone below the age of 18 should stay away from it because of the caffeine content (that is unspecified).

Kids and teenagers are still growing and developing. Most of their bodily functions are not yet fully matured.

Drinking energy drinks that contain caffeine, like Livita, can cause some adverse neurological developments and it’s not all that good for their developing hearts either.

This is mainly because of the caffeine contained in energy drinks, which might cause them to develop seizures or serious heart conditions in extreme cases.

Where to Buy Livita?

Livita is mostly available in Asian countries like Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia.

If you’re travelling to these Asian countries you can find Livita in most of the major grocery and convenience stores.

If you’re looking to get your hands on Livita in the US, your best bet is to head to your nearest Asian grocer.

My Personal Take on Livita

As expected from this energy drink, I did experience a slight energy boost which was enough to get me through my workout at the gym.

The energy boost I felt isn’t like what you get from Bang, where you just feel like you can literally jump through the roof. It’s a more subtle kind of boost.

The effects seemed to last for about 3 hours. I didn’t experience any crashes afterwards either which is great.

To be honest with you, Livita is a great energy drink, especially if you want a more sustainable energy boost, rather than something that gets you all pumped up in the beginning but comes with a dreadful crash a few hours after.

Afterthoughts

After trying Livita for myself, I find it to be not bad at all. In fact, I kind of prefer it to some of the more mainstream energy drinks out in the market.

However, I do wish that the drink itself came in bigger bottles. Something about the same size as a regular can of Red Bull (8.4 fl. oz) would be perfect.

To me, 3 fl. oz is just too small. Before you can even savour the taste you’ve already finished it in one go. But it does make for a great energy shot. *jokes!*

To sum it all up, Livita is definitely one of my favourite energy drinks in Asia. If it wasn’t for the fact that it’s pretty hard to get your hands on Livita in the States or Australia, I would probably consider drinking it fairly often.

Alternatives to Livita Energy

If you’re looking for some awesome energy drinks that are similar to Livita, there are a few I can recommend:

Powdered energy drinks are also great. They are more convenient and affordable than most of the top energy drinks on the market.

Powdered energy drinks come with the same great flavour and energy-boosting effects but usually with a lower price tag:

  • Extra Joss
  • REIZE (my personal favourite)

If you’re looking for something that you’re not used to seeing, you could also take a look at Vivarin caffeine pills.

REIZE (10 out of 10)

However, I would definitely recommend you go for a powdered energy drink, especially REIZE. They’re much more convenient and easy to carry around with you.

REIZE Energy Drink is very convenient.
REIZE is my personal favourite energy drink.

At 50mg, REIZE contains less caffeine than most energy drinks, but plenty of other great energy-boosting ingredients such as B vitamins, ginseng and taurine which all work together to provide you with the perfect energy boost – and no crash.

REIZE is a lot more convenient and versatile than most energy drinks – you can add it to all sorts of beverages – soda, cold water, flavoured juice, you name it.

REIZE ships right to your door (worldwide) for around $1 per drink including shipping, making it very affordable.

Give REIZE a try today and you might just find that it’s perfect for your everyday needs.
