While all that may convince you into buying G Fuel Energy Drinks, let’s answer the question: Is G Fuel safe for you?
The brief answer is, yes, G Fuel is safe for you as long as you know how to keep healthy and remember to moderate your intake.
That being said, G Fuel does have its flaw, which is why the question deserves more than just a “yes” or “no”. So let’s dive a little deeper from its ingredients to its caffeine content, then decide just how safe it is for you.

How Many Calories Are In G Fuel?
G Fuel Powder has around 10 to 25 calories per 7g (12-16 fl.oz) serving, while G Fuel Cans have no calories at all.
If you consume G Fuel Powder moderately, its calorie content won’t affect your diet drastically as the recommended daily caloric intake is around 2000 to 2400 calories for women and 2400 to 3000 calories for men.
Given that the G Fuel Can is calorie-free, this makes either one of them suitable to be included in your overall diet plan.
But if you’re looking at it from a more nutritional perspective, G Fuel relies mainly on caffeine to give you an energy boost which means your cells won’t be getting any substantial amount of energy to burn off.
That said, G Fuel (including other calorie-free energy drinks) doesn’t give you ‘energy’ in the scientific sense despite being marketed as an energy drink.
So, you should eat a proper meal when you’re planning on drinking G Fuel to experience the full benefits it offers without the unnecessary crash from lack of calories afterward.

How Much Caffeine Is In G Fuel?
While Fuel Powder’s caffeine content is at 150mg per 12 to 16 fl.oz, G Fuel Cans have double that amount with 300mg of caffeine per 16 fl.oz.
The caffeine content in G Fuel Powder seems rather normal for an energy drink as the caffeine content in energy drinks can range from 80 to 300mg of caffeine per serving.
The amount of caffeine present in G Fuel Cans, on the other hand, seems to be very high, making its way in the list of some of the strongest energy drinks.
It’s also important to note that it all comes down to your caffeine tolerance and not so much on the amount of caffeine present.
When choosing a caffeinated beverage, you should consider how much caffeine your body can handle before going straight for the drink. That way, you can prevent unnecessary side effects.
Personally, I prefer my energy drinks to have around 50 to 100mg of caffeine per serving, which is the ideal amount for me, increasing my energy without the crash after.
Besides that, another great thing about G Fuel Powder (or powdered energy drinks in general) is that you can control the servings, which I find beneficial especially if you have specific preferences.

My advice is to maintain a healthy limit when you’re planning on drinking G Fuel and avoid combining it with other caffeinated beverages (tea, coffee, sodas) on the same day.
How Much Sugar Is In G Fuel?
Both G Fuel Powder and G Fuel Can are completely sugar-free.
The lack of sugar in G Fuel Energy Drinks will help you avoid the dreaded sugar crash that’s caused by the sudden spike and drop in your blood sugar levels, which makes you feel slow and lethargic.
To add on, excessively consuming sugar can be damaging to your health as it leads to consequences, such as:
- Decreasing Dental Health
- Weight Gain
- Type II Diabetes
- Increased risk of Heart Disease
- Increased risk of Depression
Fortunately, G Fuel cancels out those risks for you as it doesn’t contain any sugar, and I think it’s a fair trade though you’ll be missing gaining easy calories and a taste of that sweet ol’ dopamine rush.

Does G Fuel Use Artificial Sweeteners?
G Fuel contains artificial sweeteners, namely Sucralose and Acesulfame Potassium, to substitute the sweet flavoring that’s absent, being sugar-free.
Artificial sweeteners are 200 to 600 times sweeter than sugar itself, acting as a food flavoring, not adding any nutritional value to the drink, being completely calorie-free so you can enjoy the sweetness without the guilt.
My advice is, make sure to take note of the amount of artificial sweetener in your energy drink and moderate your intake.

In short, Maltodextrin is an additive and is used to thicken and preserve the food product.
Just like artificial sweeteners, Maltodextrin is approved by the FDA and is safe to use. That said, it does have a rather high rank on the Glycemic Index (GI) scale.
This may cause a higher spike in blood sugar than regular sugar would.
That said, if you have diabetes, it’s best to avoid or consult your doctor before trying out G Fuel as there’s a possibility of a blood sugar spike.

To be perfectly safe, you should consult your health specialist first if you’re planning on including energy drinks in your diet, especially if it’s your first time.
