Celsius Energy Drink Exposed: The Real Deal on Carbonation

Celsius Energy Drink Exposed: The Real Deal on Carbonation

Celsius energy drink is quickly becoming a fan favorite in the rapidly expanding energy drink sector.

Each Celsius energy drink has these components from their “MetaPlus” proprietary blend, whether it is non-carbonated and naturally sweetened (Sweetened with Stevia) or created primarily as a pre-workout (Heat). Taurine, guarana extract, green tea extract, caffeine, ginger extract, Vitamin C, and calcium are all comprised in this blend.

You might be wondering if Celsius is carbonated or not, well; let me clear that up for you. Among the four lines of flavors, only three of them are carbonated (Originals, Naturals, and Heat).

Although the carbonation in energy beverages boosts the effects of caffeine, it has one disadvantage: a high sugar content. As a result, if you’re trying to reduce your sugar input, I recommend switching to a non-carbonated version.

What are Carbonated Drinks?

Carbonated beverages with dissolved CO2 are so named for a variety of reasons.

Many clients love the spectacular sensation and rather diverse flavors that carbon dioxide provides. Effervescence is popular because it reminds people of “bubbles dancing on their tongues.”

The fizziness and bubbling of these drinks are created by the carbonation process, which is generated by dissolved CO2 in a liquid under pressure. The most prevalent ingredients in carbonated beverages are water, carbon dioxide, sweeteners, flavors, colors, and acids.

Are Carbonated Drinks Bad for You?

Although carbonated beverages are not harmful, excessive use may cause major health concerns.

Everybody has a preferred carbonated beverage. Some prefer soda, while others prefer tonic water or champagne, all of which are frothy and wonderful in their own right. Because they retain fewer calories and sugars, many sparkling water varieties are healthier hydration options than sugary drinks.

However, due to the presence of carbon dioxide in these carbonated beverages, some people may experience gas and bloating.

If you develop a stomach ache as a result of consuming too many carbonated beverages, it’s time to cut back or switch to a healthier hydration choice. After all, you’re drinking an effervescent beverage that emits carbon dioxide under normal air circumstances.

However, because carbon dioxide is a waste product of respiration that the body expels through the lungs, increasing the amount of carbon in your blood on a regular basis may be counterproductive and may even produce varying degrees of acid reflux because carbon dioxide is an acidic gas.

Some of the negative consequences of carbonated energy drinks have:

  1. Regular belching
  2. Obesity
  3. Nutrient intake is suppressed
  4. Weak bones
  5. Kidney damage on excessive consumption
  6. Dehydration
  7. Disruption of sleep
  8. Premature aging

Ingredients of Celsius Energy Drink

Certain studies exhibit that some of the chemicals in Celsius energy drinks have metabolism-boosting characteristics.

Celsius claims to have a special “MetaPlus” assortment that boosts metabolism and burns calories. It bills itself as a “clinically confirmed to function” fitness drink.

  3. Caffeine
  4. Glucuronolactone

  6. Green Tea extract

Green Tea Extracts

Celsius makes use of a precise Green Tea extract with a specific EGCG ratio (epigallocatechin gallate). In reality, scientists have uncovered that EGCG increases metabolism, which burns more calories and eliminates more fat.

Furthermore, evidence suggests that green tea may be advantageous for weight loss. A study published in this journal found that 12 weeks of high-dose green tea extract resulted in considerable weight loss, decreased BMI, and decreased waistline circumference. There were no negative effects, and cholesterol levels actually improved.

Isn’t green tea the best? You can’t go wrong. It’s at the top of the Celsius energy drink ingredient list, so you know it’s fantastic.

The Celsius can, however, does not specify how much green tea extract is incorporated in a can, so we don’t know if it’s just a tiny pinch for marketing purposes or if it’s enough to attain the clinically efficacious amount.

Guarana Seed Extracts

Celsius scientists went deep into the Amazon rainforest to find guarana, a vital ingredient in the blend, which is a natural source of caffeine that appears to be quite substantial.

In reality, it’s been exploited for generations in traditional Amazonian medicine as a stimulant known as “the elixir of long life.”

Celsius specifically uses the seeds (not the roots), which have double the caffeine status of a conventional coffee bean.

Ginger

Ginger, or “Zingiber officinale” if you’re feeling fancy, is getting some awareness as a superfood these days. It has been shown to improve digestion, regulate blood sugar, reduce inflammation, and have other benefits.

It hasn’t created a reputation for itself as a metabolism booster, but it appears that a more efficient digestive system frees up more of the body’s energy for other uses.

This Celsius energy drink component is also known for its “amazing spicy flavor” (untraceable in a can of Sparkling Orange, anyways).

How much Caffeine is in Celsius?

Celsius drinks contain 200 to 300 mg of caffeine per serving, which is well within the daily limit.

My personal caffeine intake preference is 50-100 mg each serving and 300 mg maximum as long as they’re well-spaced throughout the day.

Caffeine is a psychoactive stimulant that boosts mental alertness. It’s frequently found in coffee, which is arguably one of the most popular beverages in the United States, and some may argue that America runs on coffee.

As a reminder, this particular study recommended a daily caffeine intake of 400 mg, and exceeding this limit can result in caffeine overdose, which causes the following symptoms:

  1. Insomnia
  2. Nausea
  3. Increased heart rate
  4. Restlessness
  5. Stomach irritation
  6. Addiction

I’ve added a youtube video showing the adverse face of caffeine.

The ugly truth behind consuming too much caffeine.

Is Celsius Energy Vegan?

Yes, Celsius Energy Drink is suitable for vegans.

Not only is it vegan, but it’s also kosher, soy, gluten-free, and sugar-free. After water, it’s arguably one of the least unpleasant drinks available.

When shall you Drink Celsius Energy?

Celsius is marketed as a “fitness drink that boosts metabolism, melts body fat, and gives you healthy energy.” Take it before working out or any form of moderate exertion.

Although it has been in existence since 2004, it has evolved alongside the energy drink business over the last decade. To keep up with the millennial generation’s ever-busier and faster-paced lives, new trends and tastes were popping up everywhere.

Celsius, like Monster Energy Drink, Red Bull, and Rockstar, regarded itself as more than just a power-boosting beverage but as a lifestyle brand.

Given the components in Celsius energy drink and their patented metabolism-boosting, fat-burning mix, they chose to rebrand and relaunch the product as a ‘Fitness Drink.’

They earned the InnoBev ‘Best Functional Drink’ award at a very fancy gala dinner in Frankfurt, Germany. The judges praised their “inventiveness… unique flavors… elegant packaging design.” Celsius, you’ve checked all the boxes!

In fact, Celsius can be a fantastic morning pick-me-up, especially after a late night. However, you should not consume it within five hours of going to bed.

For a while, 200mg of caffeine will have you counting sheep.

Celsius also makes a ‘real’ pre-workout supplement called Celsius Heat, which contains 300mg of caffeine.

If you’re having trouble breaking your personal best at the gym, or if you’ve decided to run from Los Angeles to New York in three days, take this “trainer grade” version and phone me from the road.

Is Celsius Energy Bad for you?

They’d like to think so, at least. Celsius positions itself squarely in the “healthy” classification.

Sugar-free, classic ingredients, vitamins, nutrients, and minerals… What’s not to appreciate about 100 calories burned in each can?

If you’re caffeine-sensitive, you should get medical counsel before consuming any type of high-caffeine energy beverage, but Celsius is especially dangerous. 200mg of caffeine is on the unsettled side of the spectrum.

After such a high, the inevitable drop occurs. REIZE, an energy drink alternative, is precisely developed to prevent the dreaded crash down to earth. It’s also available in powder form, so you may coordinate it any way you want.

While a calorie-burning mixture sounds appealing, even Celsius insists that it should be part of a daily diet that possesses healthy eating and moderate activity. One can contain 200mg of caffeine per day unexpectedly doesn’t sound so appealing.

Many of the components in Celsius energy drinks are relatively prevalent in the market; therefore, it’s no better or worse than many of its competitors in many aspects. Their key selling feature is the metabolism-boosting component mixture.

However, as previously said, while the “MetaPlus” blend is stated to be 1.81g per can, there is no investigation of the blend; thus, we simply don’t know how effective it is.

Best Alternative to Celsius- REIZE

REIZE is an excellent powdered energy drink that comes in 4g packets and can be consumed practically anywhere. REIZE has no added sugar and only 50 mg of caffeine.

Taurine, ginseng, and vitamin B-complex are also included in this supplement’s formulation. It must be a fantastic blend of energy drinks because it gives you the adrenaline boost you need to go through the day without collapsing like other brands.

Final Verdict

  • Among the four lines of flavors, only three of Celsius are carbonated (Originals, Naturals, and Heat).
  • Celsius includes a lot of caffeine; therefore, it’s better to limit yourself to one dose per day.
  • Celsius is sugar-free, making it a better option than sugary energy drinks. It also helps you attain your exercise goals, but that alone does not qualify it as healthy.
  • Furthermore, if you consume a big amount of caffeine in it, you may suffer negative effects on your body. However, as long as you consume it in moderation and only once in a while, you should be good!
  • If you want something with a moderate caffeine dosage, REIZE includes only 50mg of caffeine with other vital elements and is quite affordable (about $1 per sachet).
  • The key ingredients of REIZE have been given below.
  1. Caffeine
  2. Taurine
  3. Guarana
