How Many Calories Are In G Fuel Powder?

Depending on the flavour you purchase, every 7g serving of G Fuel Powder contains between 10 to 25 calories. This will make one serving of mixed G Fuel, ready to drink.

Considering that the recommended daily calorie intake is between 1,600 – 2,400 calories per day for women and 2,000 – 3,000 calories each day for men, G Fuel Powder won’t significantly affect your overall diet (provided you consume G Fuel in moderation of course).

G Fuel Powder Caffeine Content

A regular 7g scoop of G Fuel Powder contains 150mg of caffeine.

G Fuel Powder has an average amount of caffeine, given that the caffeine content in energy drinks ranges from as low as 50mg to 300mg or more.

Personally, my preference is between 50mg – 100mg of caffeine per serving. I find that this amount hits the sweet spot for me, and provides me with a nice boost without the jitters or crash.

G Fuel Powder does have slightly more caffeine than I’d like in my energy drink mix, but it’s not too excessive that I wouldn’t give it a try.

For reference, the FDA recommends that healthy adults should limit their caffeine intake to a maximum of 400 mg of caffeine per day, or adverse effects may occur, including:

Of course, the severity of the side effects after drinking caffeine depends on your caffeine metabolism. If you have a high tolerance to caffeine – due to genetics or consistently consuming a lot of caffeine – 150mg won’t be much of a bother to you.

But if you’re still new to drinking highly-caffeinated beverages, there’s a possibility you might experience several side effects. If you do, the best way to diminish those effects would be to stop drinking energy drinks and go for some water instead.

Does G Fuel Powder Have Sugar?

G Fuel Powder has no sugar, thus it’s a sugar-free product.

That said, the lack of sugar in G Fuel Powder would mean you won’t get the usual dopamine rush that sugary energy drinks provide.

On the other hand, you can avoid getting a sugar crash afterwards, which leads to a feeling of fatigue and lethargy, so that’s good news.

It’s best to cut down on sugar for the sake of your health. For your information, the AHA states the maximum recommended daily sugar intake is no more than 36g for men and 25g for women.

Does G Fuel Powder Have Artificial Sweeteners?

G Fuel Powder does contain sucralose and acesulfame potassium, both of which are artificial sweeteners.

According to Healthline, artificial sweeteners like the ones in G Fuel Powder are 200 – 700 times sweeter than regular sugar. Both sucralose and acesulfame potassium don’t have any notable nutritional values since they both have zero calories and contain no carbs either.

In fact, the sweet taste of G Fuel Powder comes from these artificial sweeteners.

If you’re worried about the safety of these sweeteners, don’t be too concerned as both sucralose and acesulfame potassium are FDA-approved for use in foods and drinks.

But these factors alone shouldn’t be a reason for completely switching to only products that contain artificial sweeteners.

There’s still a lot we don’t know about artificial sweeteners and their long-term impacts on our health, thus regardless of how wholesome these sweeteners sound, we should still consume them in moderation.

Other Ingredients In Gfuel Powder

There are plenty of ingredients in Gfuel Powder, but I’ll highlight a few of the main ones in this section:

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid that’s naturally produced in our bodies and can be found in certain foods like meat and fish.

Many energy drinks contain taurine, so G Fuel Powder is not stand out for including it. One of the reasons taurine is often added to energy drinks is due to its benefits to the heart and positive impacts on exercise performance.

Research has found that fat oxidation and physical performance among endurance-trained cyclists improved after taurine was ingested.

That said, the recommended dose of taurine is around 500mg – 2000mg per day. The specific amount of taurine in G Fuel Powder isn’t stated, thus it’s impossible to know if it will have any positive effect on you or not.

Maltodextrin

Maltodextrin can be found in many of our foods and drinks, and its main purpose is to enhance flavour, shelf-life, and thickness.

Maltodextrin is certified as a safe food additive by the FDA, however, it can become harmful to your health if consumed in excess.

People with diabetes or insulin resistance should probably stay away from this since maltodextrin has a higher glycemic index (GI) and could lead to a spike in blood sugar levels.

Maltodextrin doesn’t pose a risk if it’s taken in small doses, though if you’re unsure, you should first ask your doctor before making G Fuel Powder a regular feature in your diet.

Choline

Choline is an important nutrient that supports many bodily functions and ensures good health. The human body can produce choline naturally, but the majority of it is obtained through your diet.

Choline plays an essential role in your body, from fat metabolism to maintaining the nervous system.

Some of the benefits of choline are:

  • Improving memory and cognition
  • Protecting heart health
  • Boosting metabolism

One of the supplement forms of choline is choline bitartrate. According to the nutrition label on G Fuel Powder, choline is one of the components of the Focus Complex in G Fuel Powder.

According to WebMD, the daily upper intake level for choline is 3.5g for adults.

Again, the specific amount of choline is not stated on the label but there’s only 1.2g of Focus Complex in G Fuel Powder, so we can safely assume that the amount of choline doesn’t exceed the recommended safe limit.

Is G Fuel Powder Bad For Your Health?

G Fuel Powder isn’t bad for your health if consumed in moderation. In fact, you can use it to your advantage to increase your energy levels or brain function if you don’t have too much of it.

G Fuel Powder’s caffeine content does lean towards the higher side so it’ll definitely keep you awake and alert when you need a good boost.

However, since G Fuel Powder is an energy drink mix, it’ll be quite easy to lose track of how much you’re consuming, especially if you have two servings or more.

Too much caffeine can cause a lot of potential negative effects, thus I wouldn’t recommend making G Fuel Powder your daily energy drink.

In terms of sugar and calorie content, there’s nothing to worry about since G Fuel Powder has few calories and is sugar-free.

Still, as with every other caffeinated beverage out there, it’s best to have a moderate consumption of G Fuel Powder.  

There’s a warning note on the bottom label of the G Fuel Powder tub concerning the exposure to lead when consuming the product.

To be clear, there’s no direct ingredient in G Fuel Powder that has lead but it may contain traces of lead due to the method of sourcing.

How Healthy is G Fuel Powder?

With zero sugar and a small number of calories, I’d say that G Fuel Powder is one of the healthier energy drinks you can find.

That said, nothing can replace the healthiest drink you can get, which is water. But regarding the topic of energy drinks, G Fuel Powder has more health benefits in terms of sugar and calories.

The caffeine content is pretty concerning though, particularly if you don’t have caffeine on a regular basis, but it guarantees a strong energy boost that’ll last for a few good hours.

On that, in my opinion, the boost that you get from G Fuel powder is too strong. Sure, it’s a powerful boost, but I wasn’t able to think straight or focus on the task at hand for at least an hour. Not really ideal if you ask me.
