While Bang Energy is famous for being the perfect pre-workout energy drink, you may find yourself questioning its effectiveness.
Does Bang Energy actually work?
In brief: Yes, Bang Energy works well as an energy drink as it gives you a boost, improving your exercise performance; however, it may not be the best if you have a low caffeine tolerance.
Bang contains a strong 300 mg of caffeine and several vitamins that work by aiding in your workouts and alertness. It contains the proprietary “Super Creatine,” a micronutrient that improves strength and muscle recovery. Bang also has B vitamins that can enhance your mental cognition and concentration.

Bang Energy Calorie Content
A 16 fl.oz can of Bang Energy is completely calorie-free.
Bang Energy being zero-calorie means good news, especially if you’re looking for an energy drink that compliments your diet plan or don’t want to deal with unnecessary calorie intake.
Bang can be considered the healthier choice compared to high-calorie energy drinks, such as Red Bull, which has up to 110 calories in 8.4 fl.oz.
For guidance, the recommended daily calorific intake for healthy adults ranges from 2000 to 2400 calories for women and 2400 to 3000 calories for men.
Those on a calorie-restricted diet or looking to remain under their daily allotment of calories may welcome Bang’s absence of calories, but they should also be aware that this also means they won’t gain much energy from the drink.

Although I’ll be covering the main ingredients throughout this article, I’ve also commissioned and written about a lab test on Bang Energy which may give you a more realistic yet interesting view of the energy drink.
How Much Caffeine Does Bang Energy Have?
Bang Energy has 300mg of caffeine per 16 fl.oz can.
This makes it one of the most highly caffeinated energy drinks out there as 300mg of caffeine offers quite the punch, making it suitable for when you need help keeping awake during those late-night sessions.
The 300mg of caffeine in Bang Energy is probably too much for someone like me, who prefers energy drinks with 50 to 100mg of caffeine.
That said, 300mg of caffeine may be the right amount for you if you have a higher caffeine metabolism.
It’s also best to keep in mind that the FDA recommends a daily caffeine intake of no more than 400mg so excessively consuming caffeine may lead to side effects such as:
- Headaches
- Nausea
- Shakiness
- Insomnia
- Increased heart rate
- Stomachaches

However, if you take a look at the lab test results, Bang Energy’s caffeine content may only be about 34.06mg to 188mg per 16 fl.oz, which shows that the caffeine content in Bang Energy is a lot lower than advertised.
However, it’s still wise to assume that its caffeine content is still 300mg considering that there’s a possibility the lab results may be inaccurate.
All in all, always keep your daily caffeine intake in moderation to avoid the risk of caffeine overdose.
How Much Sugar Does Bang Energy Have?
Just like its calorie content, Bang Energy is also a sugar-free energy drink.
There’s no sugar in a can of Bang Energy, which scores it another point in the health department.
Although unlike sugary energy drinks, you most probably won’t experience any sugar rush when drinking a can of Bang Energy.
On the bright side, you’ll get to avoid the unnecessary sugar crash as your blood sugar level won’t rise due to it being a sugar-free energy drink.
That said, you should always moderate your sugar intake as according to AHA‘s recommendation, the daily sugar limit for women is no more than 25g, and no more than 36g for men.
You can also head on over to this article I’ve written on the best energy drinks with less sugar if your interest includes an energy drink that isn’t completely calorie-free.
Artificial Sweeteners
Bang Energy is sugar-free, so it gets its sweet flavoring from artificial sweeteners called Sucralose instead.
Sucralose is a type of artificial sweetener commonly used to replace sugar, containing zero calories, and is said to be 200 to 600 times sweeter than actual sugar itself.
That said, its purpose is only to add flavoring into Bang Energy and has no nutritional value.
Although they are concerns about the use of Sucralose, they have been approved by the FDA, so there’s nothing to worry about if you consume them moderately.
Does Bang Energy Actually Work?
Bang Energy can give you that surge of energy you need to get through the day, thanks to its high caffeine content.
You’re probably aware that Bang is considerably healthier than other energy drinks by being both sugar and calorie-free.
On top of that, it contains several electrolytes that can balance your hydration levels, especially when you sweat during workouts.
If you’re an athlete, the essential amino acids (EAAs) present in Bang Energy would be beneficial to you as they can improve your muscle strength and physical performance.

In my opinion, Bang Energy is most suitable for those who have high caffeine tolerance as caffeine has a half-life of 5 to 6 hours until half of it leaves your body system.
The remaining half in your body will take a little longer to get rid of, even though you won’t notice the effects anymore.
Overall, Bang Energy does its job well as an energy drink by offering a healthy dose of ingredients to make up for its high caffeine content. So, if you’re sensitive to caffeine, I suggest you try out other energy drinks.
Bang Energy Side Effects
Although Bang Energy has no sugar or calorie, its high caffeine content can be detrimental to your health if consumed excessively.
For guidance, have a quick look at the comparison table below:
Bang Energy (16 fl.oz) | Daily Max Limit (Female/Male) | |
Calories | 0 calories | 2400 calories / 3000 calories |
Sugar | 0g | 25g / 36g |
Caffeine | 300mg | 400mg |
While there’s no denying that Bang Energy is great for a low-carb diet, it’s best to consider its high caffeine content, which is only 100mg short of the FDA’s max daily caffeine limit.
If you plan on having Bang Energy, I strongly advise you to stick to just one can a day and try not to combine it with other caffeinated beverages (tea and coffee) that will add to your caffeine intake.
Going overboard may cause you to experience some heavy side effects of caffeine. Remember, moderation is key, and always consume your energy drinks responsibly.
