Energy Drink and Alcohol: Does It Speed Up Intoxication?

Energy Drink and Alcohol: Does It Speed Up Intoxication?

We’ve all heard that beverages are the life of the party. Pour some alcohol into your energy mix if you want to be more creative or in the mood to experiment.

The catch is…

When coupled with alcohol, energy drinks can get you drunk faster since they hide the sedative impact of alcohol, making you want to drink more. So, if you want to get intoxicated quickly, energy drinks and booze are a great combination!

That said, I wouldn’t really advise you to do so as it can lead to consequences. If you want to know more about them, keep reading…

Do Energy Drinks Make You Drunk Faster?

When combined with spirits, energy drinks might help you get drunk faster.

According to an experiment on the effects of mixing alcoholic drinks and energy drinks, people who consumed the mixture felt drunker.

Keep in mind that numerous studies caution people against mixing energy drinks and alcohol because it can lead to intoxication that your body may not be able to tolerate. However, intoxication may occur only if you’re aware that an energy drink has been added to your alcoholic beverage.

Personally, I think a serving and a spirit of your choice wouldn’t hurt. Just don’t overdo it! Still, I don’t recommend combining energy drinks and alcohol!

Do Energy Drinks make Alcohol Stronger?

The quick answer is yes!

When you mix alcohol and energy drinks, it conceals the depressive effect of alcohol, making you more awake than usual. As a result, you’ll crave more alcohol, which can lead to intoxication.

Palpitations, abnormal cardiac rhythm, sleep issues, and agitation are all symptoms of intoxication caused by mixing energy drinks and alcohol.

Do Energy Drinks and Alcohol Kill You?

The combination of alcohol and energy drinks can devastate one’s health.

As I’ve previously stated, alcohol is a depressant, whereas energy drinks are stimulants, and the combination of the two can be fatal.

Caffeine, a stimulant and a key component of energy drinks can raise the respiratory rate, boost alertness, and reduce weariness. Alcohol, on the other hand, is a depressant that slows brain activity, lowers heart rate and blood pressure, dilates blood vessels, and can cause a blackout.

As a result, after the stimulant impact wears off, the depressive effects remain, which might cause vomiting while sleeping or respiratory depression.

Side Effects of Energy Drinks

Energy drinks aren’t all that horrible; however, when ingested in excess or combined with alcohol, they can cause health problems such as:

  1. Increased blood pressure
  2. Irregular heart rhythms
  3. Sleep disturbance
  4. Weight gain
  5. Tooth decay
  6. Mental health problems
  7. Diabetes
  8. Kidney damage
  9. Substance abuse

I’ve added a youtube video showing what energy drinks do to your body.

Can Energy Drinks get you High?

When eaten in excess, energy drinks can undoubtedly get you high.

However, due to their reduced caffeine dosage, energy drink powders are unlikely to cause a high. A typical serving of an energy drink includes up to 150 mg of caffeine, which is considered modest.

To avoid caffeine’s negative side effects, this research recommends limiting your caffeine intake to no more than 400 mg per day.

I strongly advise taking only one serving of energy mix every now and then. There are other natural ways to receive caffeine, which minimizes the danger of developing caffeine toxicity.

Why Shouldn’t You Mix Red Bull with Alcohol?

Red Bull causes the heart to beat quicker, and combining it with alcohol causes the organ to work harder. As a result, you’ll have an irregular cardiac rhythm, which could lead to a heart attack.

Furthermore, combining Red Bull and alcohol on a regular basis causes your blood pressure to rise, increasing your risk of stroke and heart attack. Furthermore, long-term use can harm the kidneys and liver.

If you already have an abnormal heartbeat or palpitations, it’s better not to mix Red Bull with alcohol.

Does Red Bull and Vodka get You More Drunk?

Red Bull and vodka can make you even more inebriated.

This combo has the potential to boost one’s ability to feel intoxicated. When you consume alcohol on its own, you can easily regulate how much you drink, and when combined with an energy drink, you won’t experience the depressing effect of alcohol.

As a result, you’ll keep wanting more, and you’ll get intoxicated rapidly without even realizing it.

How to Get our Energy Levels High Naturally?

If you find yourself feeling sluggish, having difficulty staying awake, or chugging multiple servings of booze just to stay energized and elevated during party time, you’re not alone.

Here are a few pro tips for applying before the party so you can make it to the end of the party with a higher energy level.

Get More Sleep

Not getting enough sleep can deplete your energy reserves, leaving you groggy, cranky, and sluggish the next day.

Although the quantity of sleep required by each individual varies, experts typically recommend aiming for at least 7 hours of sleep per night to enhance energy levels and promote overall health.

So, a little nap might be just what you need to level up your energy before partying.

Reduce Stress

People who lead hectic lives are prone to feeling pressured, anxious, or overwhelmed.

Stress not only has a negative impact on your physical and emotional health but it has also been connected to exhaustion and fatigue.

Consider what regularly causes you to feel anxious or fatigued and whether you can eliminate it from your life. If it isn’t practical or acceptable, what steps can you take to lessen your concern over it in the long run?

Finding the answer alone might take half the stress out of your shoulder; mark my words.

Move More

Regular exercise can help lower your risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity.

Furthermore, some studies suggest that increasing your physical activity may help you battle weariness and enhance your energy levels.

One small study found that university students who engaged in a low-intensity jogging program three times per week for six weeks saw significant improvements in fatigue and sleep quality when compared to a control group.

Limit Alcohol

Alcohol has a sedative effect and may cause you to feel tired and relaxed.

Many people believe that drinking an alcoholic beverage (or “nightcap”) can help them fall asleep faster. However, drinking alcohol before bed frequently can affect the quality of your sleep.

Alcohol can also serve as a diuretic, meaning it increases urine production. As a result, having a few drinks immediately before bed could disrupt your sleep by causing you to wake up in the middle of the night.

By limiting your alcohol consumption, you can get your energy level higher.
