Discover the Best Energy Drinks for Men’s Health and Vitality

In this article, I’ll share my views on the best energy drinks for men’s health and answer some frequently asked questions for you.

Do energy drinks affect sperm?

Yes, long-term consumption of energy drinks can reduce sperm concentration, but doesn’t impact sperm motility or morphology.

In this study, 40 male rats were exposed to energy drinks mixed in with their regular drinking water for 120 days.

The rats were also divided into 4 groups each with their own levels of energy drinks mixed in with their water. One control group had just plain water.

The rats were tested for toxicity each day. Afterwards, the rats were killed and their organs were weighed.

The study concluded that long-term consumption of energy drinks can cause sperm concentration to be reduced, but other important metrics about sperm, such as motility and morphology were not affected by energy drinks.

Although that research was in rats, not humans, based on the findings of that study I think it’s probably a good idea to only consume energy drinks in moderation for the benefit of your sperm concentration.

Will energy drinks cause erectile dysfunction?

Energy drinks probably won’t cause erectile dysfunction.

Perhaps surprisingly, there is good evidence that energy drink consumption may actually reduce the chance of experiencing erectile dysfunction.

Additionally, caffeine has been shown to reduce rates of erectile dysfunction. That’s good news if this is something that is an issue for you.

Can caffeine help with erectile dysfunction?

Yes, caffeine can help to reduce how often you experience erectile dysfunction.

Research done by The International Society for Sexual Medicine found that men who consumed more caffeine each day had lower rates of erectile dysfunction.

Good news, right?

It’s possible that caffeine relaxes arteries. And good blood flow is necessary for a firm erection.

There was once an energy drink that gave someone an erection lasting for 6 hours which was banned.

It used Sildenafil which is a drug that increases blood flow in the penis and therefore would cause a firmer erection.

However, depending on what you prefer, a 6-hour erection may not be in your best interest, especially if you need to go to work or sleep.

If you feel like you have erectile dysfunction it’s best to see a doctor and let them prescribe the medication.

Does Red Bull help you get hard?

Red Bull is one of the best-selling energy drink brands worldwide.

No, Red Bull doesn’t help you get hard.

Red Bull already sells enough energy drinks, could you imagine what their sales would look like if we suddenly realised that it functions like liquid Viagra?

Sales would explode overnight!

But seriously, there is no substance or science to back this up.

How to Increase Testosterone Levels

Caffeine, commonly found in energy drinks and coffee, can increase your testosterone if taken in moderation.

This study published in the Human Kinetics Journals noted that caffeine does help to increase testosterone levels.

However, those benefits may be offset by the negative effect of increasing cortisol levels at the same time, thereby causing a decline in the testosterone: cortisol levels.

There is no magic potion when it comes to increasing your testosterone levels but there are certain ways in which you can increase it naturally to help maintain better men’s health.

Diet

It’s important to have a good diet filled with meat, vegetables, and lots of protein.

This is because, in order to produce testosterone, your body needs to be happy and healthy.

It’s also important to have a good amount of cholesterol but not too much or you risk a lot of health problems.

For men, a balanced and healthy diet helps with everything including work, sleep, and yes, testosterone production.

Supplements

Supplements include vitamins, minerals, and of course energy drinks.

Supplements give your body the extra kick that it needs in your daily activities.

You can use energy drinks to boost a workout or have one during work to keep alert. The caffeine levels in an energy drink are key to functioning at your best every day.

Other studies have shown vitamin D3 boosts testosterone levels. So get out there in the sun and boost your testosterone levels naturally!

Exercise

You heard me right. It’s time to get your butt off that couch and get on that treadmill because exercise can build more testosterone.

Your body needs to be healthy to produce testosterone and as such, keeping physically active is key.

What to Look for in an Energy Drink

It’s important to choose an energy drink that will help you, rather than hinder you in your quest to obtain a healthy body.

Here are three things to consider when looking for energy drinks:

  • caffeine
  • sugar
  • price

Let’s take a closer look at each of these individually.

Caffeine

Caffeine is great for several aspects of male health and is the main energy-boosting ingredient in energy drinks.

To get the absolute best results from caffeine, make sure that you combine caffeine with exercise instead of just drinking energy drinks.

When looking at the caffeine content, also consider how much caffeine your body can tolerate.

Does one cup of coffee make you buzz or does it make you feel even sleepier?

Those are good things to keep in mind when looking at the caffeine content in an energy drink because you certainly don’t want to have too much caffeine.

I’d recommend a good amount to aim for is anywhere between 50 to 100mg of caffeine per serving, while the FDA recommends a maximum of 400mg of caffeine per day for a healthy adult.

Sugar

Sugar is important as an energy source and it’s in many energy drinks, but it’s important to know how much sugar you are consuming so as to avoid a sugar crash or other health problems.

Sugar crashes are drastic drops in energy and once you have one you can become irritable and dizzy

But sugar crashes aren’t the only things you need to be aware of. Too much sugar is terrible for male health and may even contribute to erectile dysfunction, as covered above.

The AHA recommends a maximum of 37.5g of sugar each day for healthy adult men.

But that doesn’t mean you should be aiming for this amount. If you can stay well under this amount that’s all the better for your overall health.

Price

There’s nothing worse than having an energy drink that costs $5 or more and not even being able to finish it because it doesn’t suit your taste or because the ingredients don’t agree with you.

You want to look for something which tastes great, contains a good mix of high-quality ingredients, and is priced appropriately.

Celsius

An energy drink like Celsius which is packed with 200mg of caffeine, but is sugar-free, is great for an energy boost.

You should be careful of the caffeine in Celsius as it may be too much for you.

Celsius is popular with the fitness crowd thanks to some clever marketing and some university studies that the company paid for which show the positive effects of combining caffeine with exercise.

Mind you, don’t think for a moment that Celsius is special in this regard – any caffeinated drink combined with exercise will also be great for you.

Coca-Cola Energy Drink

Coca-Cola Energy drink has a fair amount of sugar and caffeine that is great for a daily pick-me-up.

It has 80mg of caffeine and 26g of sugar which is between my recommendation of 50 to 100mg of caffeine daily, but getting you pretty close to the AHA guidelines for the maximum daily sugar intake.

If you want to avoid sugar, which I recommend, you can go for the sugar-free version of Coke energy instead. It doesn’t contain taurine and has far fewer B vitamins than some other energy drinks.
