Unexpected Contenders: Best Energy Drinks for Daily Use

Unexpected Contenders: Best Energy Drinks for Daily Use

Top Recommendation: REIZE Energy!

It’s no small step to swap any daily habit or ritual for something new.

It’s also very important that you make the right decision and properly understand what might happen if you do make changes to your daily routine.

When it comes to energy drinks, which ones are the best for daily use, and which ones are best kept for the occasional treat?

There are lots of different brands of energy drinks out there in the market, and trying each and every single one isn’t a practical way to find your ideal daily energy drink buddy. But to save you time, Zipfizz and G Fuel are just one of the best energy drinks you can use daily!

As an energy drink connoisseur, I’ve tried hundreds of different energy drinks and looked closely at their ingredient labels and health claims. I’ve written about many of them.

To learn more, below is my list of the best energy drinks for daily use. I saved the best for last, so stick around!

What really matters in an energy drink

Caffeine

If you look at the content section of any energy drink, you’ll find that it contains caffeine.

Caffeine keeps you awake and energized throughout the day. That’s why after drinking an energy drink you’ll feel much more awake and alert than before. It’s the caffeine (and other ingredients) that’s causing that.

When it comes to choosing which energy drinks are good for daily use, the ones with a sensible amount of caffeine are always the best.

So, how much caffeine is a sensible amount?

Personally, I consider caffeine doses between 50mg to 100mg to be a sensible amount. It’s enough to give you all the benefits of feeling great, without any of the negative side effects commonly associated with too much caffeine.

This is because caffeine can cause serious side effects, especially if consumed in excessive amounts:

  • Caffeine overdose
  • Caffeine addiction
  • Insomnia
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Irregular heart rate
  • Death (this is very rare)

Sugar

The second most important criterion that you should look at in an energy drink is the sugar content. As we all know, sugar is bad for you and some energy drinks contain lots of sugar.

This is because sugar is great at giving you a quick burst of energy. It also tastes good.

However, those effects are usually short-lived, and after a couple of hours, you’ll be left to deal with a dreadful sugar crash.

If sugar is consumed in excess, it can cause some serious health implications such as:

  • Premature aging
  • Increased risk of type 2 diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Increased risk of heart disease
  • Tooth decay

When it comes to choosing the energy drink that’s best for daily use, go for those that contain as little sugar as possible.

Nowadays, there are lots of sugar-free energy drinks on the market that you can choose from.

Generally speaking, these sugar-free energy drinks are much healthier and provide you with a better and more sustainable energy boost (no sugar crash).

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid that can be found in the body and is commonly used as a dietary supplement.

When it comes to choosing an energy drink that’s best for daily use, those that contain taurine are better in my opinion.

There have been studies that suggest taurine when used together with caffeine, can be very beneficial for your brain.

Taurine has also many other benefits, such as:

  • Helps to lower the risk of certain diseases
  • Improves athletic performance
  • Improves mental performance
  • Aids with muscle recovery

B-vitamins

Other ingredients that you’ll find in every energy drink are B vitamins.

These vitamins are crucial for your body and they play a big part in many internal functions. When you’re searching for an energy drink that’s best for daily use, try and go for those that contain lots of B vitamins.

However, there’s no need to consume more than 100% of the daily value of any of them. This is because B vitamins are water-soluble. Anything over 100% of your daily requirements just ends up going straight into the toilet on your next visit.

B vitamins provide lots of benefits to your body, such as:

  • Helping to maintain your energy levels
  • Aiding cell repair
  • Lowers cholesterol levels
  • Helps to prevent heart diseases

Price

Of course, the most important factor of all is the price of the energy drink. Most of us are on a tight budget and can’t really afford to splurge all of our cash on energy drinks. Imagine having to pay $4 for an energy drink on a daily basis.

That adds up to a small fortune over the course of a month.

Money doesn’t grow on trees, so when it comes to choosing an energy drink that’s best for daily use, we want it to be as affordable as possible to get the best value for our money.

To help you in your search for the best energy drink for daily use, I’ve rounded up all the energy drinks that I consider to be the best for daily consumption based on the above criteria.

Enjoy!

The Best Energy Drinks for Daily Use

ZipFizz Energy Drink

Caffeine: 100mg
Sugar: 0g
Price: about $2.25 per serving
(tube)

ZipFizz is an energy drink powder that transforms regular water into an energy drink.

It’s one of the most popular up-and-coming energy drink brands out there. ZipFizz contains 100mg of caffeine per tube. You just have to mix it with regular water before you can drink it.

ZipFizz is sugar-free too!

At $2.25 per serving, ZipFizz isn’t all that expensive, but it’s far from being the best value for your money. For this reason, it’s not my top pick on this list.

Price aside, ZipFizz is still one of the best energy drinks for daily use.

Check out my Zipfizz review here (I tried 10 of the 11 Zipfizz flavors).

Monster Zero Ultra

Caffeine: 160mg
Sugar: 0g
Price: $3.20 per 16 fl.oz can

Monster Energy is one of the top brands for energy drinks, competing right alongside Red Bull and Rockstar.

This beast contains a high dose of caffeine at 160mg per 16 fluid ounces. Having 160mg in a can is similar to drinking two cups of coffee in one go.

Although it’s well above what I generally prefer, it’s still safe and low enough to not cause you any of the side effects associated with excessive amounts of caffeine.

What’s best about Monster Zero Ultra is that it contains no sugar at all, unlike the regular version which contains 54g of sugar per 16 fl. oz can.

With sugar out of the way, you won’t have to worry much about damaging your health by drinking this drink on a daily basis.

On the flip side, Monster Zero Ultra is quite expensive compared to most energy drinks. A single can cost you about $3.20, which definitely isn’t all that affordable.

Quick math: $3.20 per day equals $1,168 per year!

However, Monster is known to produce one of the best-tasting energy drinks that you can get your hands on. With so many different flavors to choose from, it’s pretty likely that you will find something that you enjoy.

If you think about it like that, $3.20 is a small price to pay for an energy drink that you know is going to taste great.

I wrote a detailed article specifically about whether it’s safe to drink Monster every day. If you’re considering making Monster your daily energy drink of choice, I recommend checking that out first.

XS Energy

Caffeine: 80mg
Sugar: 0g
Price: about $3 per 8.4 fl. oz can

XS is an energy drink made by Amway.

Just like Red Bull, a single 8.4 fl. oz can of XS Energy contains 80mg of caffeine which I think is a good amount to keep you awake and is suitable for daily use.

At these doses, you don’t have to worry about all the side effects associated with caffeine unless you’re highly sensitive to the stimulant.

The best part of XS Energy is that it contains no sugar. What this means for you is that it’s much healthier and better suited as a daily energy drink than some of the other sugar-filled energy drinks out there.

The main problem that I have with XS Energy is that paying $3 for an energy drink is just too expensive. Forking out $3 for an 8.4 fl. oz can doesn’t seem to be the best value for money.

Other than the price, XS Energy makes a great daily energy drink. However, because of the price, I suggest considering some of the other energy drinks on this list before taking the plunge.

G Fuel

Caffeine: 150mg
Sugar: 0g
Price: about $1 per serving (not including shipping)

G Fuel is the most popular powdered energy drink in the gaming scene.

It’s also known to be the drink of choice for the world’s biggest Youtube star, Pewdiepie.

Just like Zipfizz, G Fuel is an energy drink powder that you mix with water to make an instant energy drink.

A single serving of G Fuel contains 150mg of caffeine, which is slightly more than I prefer, but still low enough to not cause any serious side effects.

Having said that, I find the boost that I get from G Fuel to be too much to be able to think clearly. It’s probably more suited as a pre-workout than something that you should use before trying to use your brain to win (like gaming!).

For that reason, I don’t think that G Fuel is the best energy drink for gaming, but others may disagree.

The thing I like most about G Fuel is that it’s sugar-free, meaning no sugar crash and it’s definitely a much healthier choice for a daily drink than many other sugar-filled energy drinks.

At around $1 per serving, it would seem like G Fuel is the most affordable energy drink that you can get your hands on. Well, that’s not entirely true if you include the shipping cost with it, but it’s certainly not going to break the bank.

There is an even more affordable option for your daily energy drink needs, but I’ll get to that in a moment.

Red Bull

Caffeine: 80mg
Sugar: 27g
Price: about $2 per 8.4 fl. oz can

Red Bull has the largest market share in the energy drink industry and is the most popular energy drink in the world.

A single can of 8.4 fl. oz Red Bull contains 80mg of caffeine, which I consider to be a sensible amount and certainly enough to keep you awake.

The sugar-free version of Red Bull is much better than the original brew in my opinion, as it doesn’t contain sugar and is a healthier choice. If you’re looking for a daily energy drink, go for Red Bull sugar-free instead of the original version.

As a bonus, by avoiding the sugar, you’ll also avoid the sugar crash.

At around $2 per 8.4 fl. oz can, Red Bull isn’t all that expensive. Actually, it’s the middle of the range in terms of price for most energy drinks.

As famous as Red Bull is, I still think that there are better options out there for energy drinks that are best for daily use.

If you’re wondering what the difference is between Red Bull and Monster, you’re not alone. I created a detailed article about exactly how the two drinks differ.

REIZE Energy Drink

Caffeine: 50mg
Sugar: sugar-free
Price: about $1 per drink (including shipping)

Just like ZipFizz and G Fuel, REIZE is an energy drink powder that you mix with water before drinking. However, from my experiments REIZE is a lot more versatile, meaning that you can mix it with just about any beverage of your choice and it tastes great.

A single serving of REIZE contains 50mg of caffeine, which is an optimal dosage for daily consumption.

The best part is that REIZE is sugar-free, so it’s a much healthier alternative than many of the sugary energy drinks that you’re familiar with.

The price is where REIZE really stands out though. At around $1 per drink, you can get it shipped right to your door.

That’s seriously good value!

Should you drink energy drinks daily?

In my opinion, although it’s safe to drink a can every day still I would recommend you to drink it in moderation and in alternate days.

I actually wrote an entire article all about this exact topic, which I recommend you read before starting to drink energy drinks every day.

Drinking energy drinks daily over a long period of time may cause some health issues later on. Although, I honestly believe that the risks from any energy drink are no greater than the risks coming from having a daily cup of coffee.

If you really want to drink energy drinks daily, I would highly recommend you go for the sugar-free versions as they are much better for your long-term health.

To set things straight, here’s what the FDA recommend for caffeine intake:

AgeRecommended Daily Amount
Kids60-80 mg
Teenagers 100 mg
18 and above400 mg
FDA’s recommended daily intake of caffeine

Other Energy Drinks

Besides all the energy drinks that I’ve listed above, there are lots of other good energy drink brands out there that are also suitable for daily use.

Although they’re not what I consider to be the best for daily use, they’re still worth checking out.

If powdered energy drinks are your thing, there are some other great brands that you could also try:

There are also other great caffeinated products like Make it Mio, which is a water enhancer that gives your regular water flavor and caffeine.

You could also try Vivarin Caffeine Pills. Each pill contains 200mg of caffeine and it’s much quicker and easier to take than drinking an entire energy drink. The only downside is that it doesn’t come with the same great taste as most energy drinks.

Actually, I also found the energy boost to be a bit disappointing too. I guess there’s a reason that they are so much cheaper than energy drinks.

REIZE Energy Drink

If you’re looking for the best daily energy drink, I highly recommend REIZE!

Unlike most of the well-known energy drinks, REIZE is much more convenient, and not to mention versatile.

REIZE also contains a sensible amount of caffeine which is much healthier as a daily energy drink compared to most of the stronger energy drinks out there.

REIZE Energy Drink is very convenient.
REIZE is the best daily energy drink that you can get your hands on in my opinion.

Besides caffeine, REIZE also contains tons of other great energy-boosting ingredients such as taurine, ginseng, and B vitamins, which combine to give you the perfect energy boost – with no sugar crash.

REIZE is also VERY affordable at around $1 per drink including shipping.

Try REIZE for youself!

You might quickly find that REIZE is indeed the best energy drink for your daily use.
