What do these female icons have in common? Well, they’re all superstars in their own ways. I’m in awe of these legends that are all so successful in their own right.

And like them, I believe any independent, strong woman who’s busy getting a degree, building a career or caring for her children should keep her health as a priority.

But you know what?

All that success can be tiring and sometimes you just need a little energy boost to give you the nudge you need to keep moving forward.

Caffeine is a key energy-boosting ingredient in any energy drink and part of what makes them a popular choice with the ladies.

But, wait there’s more to caffeine than just being an energy booster.

Caffeine is an antioxidant. So, here are some of its health benefits.

  • Enhanced sports performance
  • Improved metabolism
  • Better mood

However, I should remind you that the FDA recommends a daily caffeine intake of up to 400mg only.

That’s for an average healthy adult, including men.

So, you should try to keep an eye on how much caffeine you’re getting from all sources throughout the day.

Remember that sodas, coffee, tea, chocolate and energy drinks are just some of the sources of caffeine, but there are also others too.

Sugar

Here’s another major ingredient that puts the energy in energy drinks.

And honestly, it’s hard for me to say if there are other benefits to sugar other than taste and a short-lived energy boost.

There may be many health complications when you consume too much sugar, so if you want to make your health and fitness a priority, you should generally be trying to limit the amount of sugar you consume as much as you possibly can.

It’s best you cut down on the intake, even if you feel there’s nothing wrong with your health right now.

Do it for your future self.

According to the American Health Association (AHA), the recommended daily intake of sugar for women is no more than 25g.

I’ve experienced this first hand, so I understand the concern that women have.

I love to spend less and get more, and I’m sure you’re the same.

But at the same time, you don’t want to compromise on the quality of the ingredients just to save some a few dollars.

Women are more prone to have Alzheimer’s disease than men as other studies have proven, so drinking a sensible amount of caffeine each day is arguably more important for women than it is for me.

Can caffeine treat migraines for women?

When it comes to migraines, women are said to suffer from them three times more often than men.

In some cases, the migraine symptoms are made worse by menstruation, hormonal contraception, pregnancy, or menopause.

In fact, the FDA has approved caffeine as an ingredient in drugs to treat migraines.

Perhaps ironic, but headaches are a common symptom when you withdraw from caffeine after long-term use.

Can caffeine boost a woman’s immune system?

Yes, caffeine can boost women’s immune systems.

Resistance to illnesses is often related to your immune system.

And, with you always being the caregiver of your family, you might forget to build YOUR immune system.

In time, you might face a high risk of falling ill.

This study notes that caffeine does impact various aspects of immunity, but says that the clinical relevance of the changes is not clear and that further research on the topic is a good idea.

Are energy drinks good for pregnant and breastfeeding women?

No, energy drinks are not good for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

When you’re in your pregnancy term or breastfeeding, you need all the nutrients you can get to provide for your baby.

It’s advised that you restrict your caffeine intake to less than 200mg daily, or better yet- quit caffeine entirely.

High caffeine content poses many threat to you and your baby.

When pregnant, you’re exposed to a higher risk of miscarriage. And, there’s also the risk of your baby born small or having a slower growth rate than normal.

When you’re a breastfeeding mom, caffeine in your system can reach your baby via breast milk. The caffeine keeps the baby awake and makes the baby feel restless.

Safe breastfeeding practice keeps your little one healthy.

So, for the sake of both you and your bundle of joy, give energy drinks a miss.

Do energy drinks affect sex hormones?

No, energy drinks don’t affect sex hormones.

Caffeine in energy drinks is known to cause jitters in the males.

Surprisingly, it doesn’t affect women as much. None of their reproductive hormone levels are disrupted as this study showed.

So, while energy drinks have no effect on women’s sex hormones, things might be the opposite when it comes to stress hormones.

However, another rat study proved that caffeine consumption when stressed can increase negative hormonal effects.

The effect of caffeine on women depends on the tolerance level of each individual.

For some, it may increase blood pressure, heart rate, urge for excretion, and epinephrine production. For others, there’s not much of an effect.

If you stick to the FDA recommendation of not more than 400mg of caffeine daily, there probably won’t be any serious impact on your hormones.

It makes for a decent energy boost with lower risk of a sugar-crash later on compared to some other brands that are loaded with sugar.

Each can contains 40 calories. And, that shouldn’t be much of a deal unless you’re watching each and every calorie that you put in your body very closely.

Bing is made of at least 5% real juice, so there’s a fruity taste to the drinks and the sugar in them balances out the flavors pretty well.

My main concern with Bing is that it’s usually not very affordable. There are certainly cheaper deals to be found elsewhere.
