Although most energy drinks will give you a boost, personally, I prefer energy drinks that help me to study instead of leaving my thoughts scattered and my brain racing, unable to focus or concentrate.
I find that energy drinks that contain between 50mg and 100mg of caffeine are usually best for focus and alertness. Anything more than 100mg of caffeine often leaves me unable to focus on anything, and therefore, unable to learn or retain information either – not exactly ideal if you’re in the middle of a very important study session.
The effects of energy drinks usually last about 3-4 hours. It could be longer or shorter depending on your unique physiological makeup.
Do energy drinks help with studying?

The caffeine in energy drinks stimulates your nervous system and give you a temporary boost in your energy levels, and if you get the dosage right, your mental performance too.
Studies have shown that energy drinks improve students cognitive functions (meaning you are able to get more done in a short period of time).
This is great for you if you’re trying to pull up an all-nighter to study for your exam, or if you’re doing some last minute cramming – energy drinks might just help you power through AND absorb the information that you are studying.
However, that doesn’t mean you don’t still need to rest.
Nothing helps more with your studies than a good nights’ rest.
In fact, not getting enough sleep can have a negative effect on your memory and impair your ability to retain new information.
If you really have to drink energy drinks and pull up an all-nighter for your studies – my advice is don’t make a habit of it. Energy drinks might help you survive for a day or two, but sooner or later you will need to get some good quality sleep.
Is Red Bull good for studying?
Yes, Red Bull is great for studying.
If you’re tired and finding it hard to power through your study sessions, Red Bull might be just the drink to help you pull through.
As far as energy drinks go, Red Bull is on the smaller side, at 8.4 fl.oz compared to other energy drinks which are often 12 fl.oz or more.
It does, however, contain 80mg of caffeine and 27g of sugar, which I consider to be an ideal amount of caffeine. Personally, I try to limit my sugar intake, so I’m not a fan of the original Red Bull for studying.
In addition to being unhealthy if consumed in excess, sugar can also lead to sugar crash which is the enemy of productive studying and comprehension.
You should drink Red Bull (and all energy drinks) in moderation during your study. Drinking an excessive amount can have negative side effects that you certainly want to avoid.
Keep in mind that energy drinks are only suitable for adults – that is, if you’re over 18 years of age.
If you’re under the age of 18, you shouldn’t be consuming energy drinks at all.

Is caffeine good for studying?
