Discover the Top Picks for the Best Energy Drink for Your Body

Top Recommendation: REIZE Energy!

When it comes to energy drinks, most people have the assumption that they’re not healthy for your body. Additionally, it’s no surprise that energy drinks have a reputation for being harmful to your health.

However, this is not always the case.

To say that all energy drinks are unhealthy is an overstatement. There are lots of different brands and types of energy drinks, each with a different combination of ingredients.

So, without further ado, let’s discover the best energy drinks for your body!

Are energy drinks good for you?

If you’re consuming energy drinks the way they’re advertised, the answer is a YES.

Some ingredients in energy drinks aren’t so good but are far from being really bad for you. If drank in moderation I don’t see how these energy drinks are actually that bad for your body.

Sure, some energy drinks contain too much sugar or caffeine, far more than what’s actually good for you. However, there are also energy drinks that contain a sensible amount of caffeine and little or no sugar.

Therefore, energy drinks are relatively safe provided they’re consumed in moderation.

How do I choose a healthy energy drink?

To choose a healthy energy drink, you should take into consideration the following:

  • less caffeine
  • no artificial flavoring
  • no added sugar
  • added nutritional benefits

Notable Ingredients in Energy Drinks

Caffeine, sugar, taurine, and B vitamins are some common energy drink ingredients designed for helping you obtain the boost that you need to get through your workout.

Let’s have a quick overview of each one of them!

Caffeine

Caffeine is the key ingredient in an energy drink that carries out its function by keeping you awake and energized.

When it comes to choosing an energy drink that’s best for your body, those that contain a sensible amount of caffeine are the best.

In my experience, I noticed that energy drinks with 50 to 100mg of caffeine are the best for boosting my energy levels without worrying about headaches and other nasty symptoms.

It might be different for you as we all have varying caffeine tolerance. As long as you stick to the suggested caffeine threshold, you’ll be absolutely fine, in theory.

Sugar

The second most important factor in choosing an energy drink that’s best for your body is the sugar content. Many energy drinks contain tons of sugar in each serving, which is very bad for you.

When consumed in excess, sugar can cause some severe side effects to your body such as:

  • premature aging
  • increased risk of type 2 diabetes
  • obesity
  • weakened immune system
  • tooth decay

In fact, it’s recommended that you limit your sugar consumption to no more than 37.5g for men and 25g for women daily as recommended by the American Heart Association.

Here’s a more detailed discussion of how sugar affects your brain.

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid found in some parts of the body and can also be sourced from your diet.

Also, it is a common component of energy drinks as it works together with caffeine to help you achieve that mental and physical boost.

Additionally, taurine is beneficial in terms of:

  • hydrating your body
  • creating bile salts
  • regulating the minerals within your body
  • regulating the antioxidant functions
  • supporting the overall function of the central nervous system

When it comes to choosing an energy drink that’s best for your body, those that contain taurine are better than those that rely solely on caffeine and sugar in my opinion.

Check out my article here if you’re looking for energy drinks that contain taurine.

B-vitamins

B vitamins are important nutrients that your body needs for boosting energy levels and preventing various diseases.

When you’re out looking for an energy drink that’s more beneficial to your body, get the ones that contain B vitamins such as Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Vitamin B3 (Niacin), and Vitamin B12.

These B vitamins are crucial and help with the energy production process within your body.

Best Energy Drinks For Your Body

Red Bull

Caffeine: 80mg
Sugar: 27g
Price: $2 per 8.4 fl. oz can

Red Bull is one of the most popular energy drinks in the world.

With just 80mg of caffeine, Red Bull is good at giving you a boost in your energy levels without the side effects of too much caffeine.

The only downside to Red Bull is that it contains too much sugar in my opinion. However, you can easily switch to the sugar-free version of Red Bull which has the same caffeine content but is sugar-free.

It doesn’t matter if you’re getting the regular or sugar-free version of Red Bull, both contain taurine and B vitamins which are great for your body.

If you think about it, for only $2 per drink Red Bull isn’t all that expensive. However, it’s far from being the most affordable option – there are many energy drinks that are far more affordable than Red Bull.

If you’re considering making Red Bull part of your daily routine, I strongly recommend reading my other article where I talk all about exactly what to expect when you start drinking Red Bull every day.

To get a better grasp of what typically goes inside a can of Red Bull, here’s a breakdown of its nutrients.

Monster

Caffeine: 160mg
Sugar: 54g
Price: $3.20 per 16 fl. oz can

Monster Energy is well known for its claw mark logo that depicts the letter M.

This green mean beast contains 160mg of caffeine per can. Although it’s well above what I usually prefer, after trying Monster myself it doesn’t seem to cause any side effects.

However, this is highly dependent on your tolerance to caffeine. Different people will have different reactions to this dosage.

In any case, 160mg of caffeine doesn’t compare to some of the strongest energy drinks in the world.

Just like Red Bull, the downside of Monster Energy is that it contains too much sugar, which is bad for you.

However, you can always just go for the sugar-free versions of Monster such as Absolute Zero and Zero Ultra which are much healthier alternatives. They both contain the same amount of caffeine and other ingredients, but no sugar.

If you look at the price, Monster Energy is somewhat expensive. Paying $3.20 for an energy drink every day is going to cost you a fortune.

However, look at the bright side, Monster comes in a variety of flavors. This is great as you’re bound to find something that suits your taste.

Considering that $3.20 seems to be a reasonable price to pay to get an energy drink that you’ll enjoy drinking.

Celsius

Caffeine: 200mg
Sugar: 0g
Price: $2.25 per 12 fl. oz can

Celsius “fitness drinks” contain lots of great healthy ingredients such as green tea, calcium, and vitamin C, all of which are good for your body.

Not to mention that Celsius also doesn’t contain all the bad stuff like sugar and artificial colorings.

A single can of Celsius Energy contains 200mg of caffeine which is half of the recommended daily dosage. Therefore drinking more than 2 cans of Celsius in a day is not recommended.

Celsius Energy also contains other healthy ingredients such as B vitamins which helps to give your body more energy.

The best part of Celsius is that it’s sugar-free.

So you won’t have to worry about facing the side effects of too much sugar or experiencing a dreaded sugar crash.

At around $2.25 per 12 fl. oz can, Celsius is indeed an affordable option for your energy needs and not bad for your body either.

Runa Clean Energy

Caffeine: 150mg
Sugar: 14 g
Price: $1.50 per 8.4 fl. oz can

Runa Clean Energy is an energy drink that runs purely on guayusa.

A single can of Runa Clean Energy contains 120mg of caffeine, which is enough to give you a boost in energy without the side effects of excessive caffeine.

Just like Celsius, Runa Clean Energy does contain sugar, but it’s only a tiny bit – in theory, not enough to actually pose a threat to your health.

At $1.50 per 8.4 fl. oz can, Runa Clean Energy is one of the most affordable energy drinks that you can get your hands on. It’s not only affordable, but it’s the most organic energy drink that you’re likely to find!

REIZE is a powdered energy drink that includes a great mix of ingredients.

Caffeine: 50mg

At 50mg of caffeine per drink, REIZE has a sensible amount of caffeine, but still enough to give you a boost in energy – without all the negative effects of too much caffeine.

That’s not all there is to REIZE.
