Maximize Calorie Burn: Best Energy Drink for Fat Loss Goals

Are you getting tired of seeing your belly poke out of your waistline? Or maybe you just want to be slimmer and healthier with less fat?

Getting rid of excess fat is a slow process, and it requires a lot of sacrifice in the form of giving up on all your favorite guilty pleasures.

But what if I told you that you can still have energy drinks during your fat loss journey?

What if I said that energy drinks can help you burn fat?

For a more detailed discussion on how energy drinks and their ingredients can help in fat loss, read on to find out…

Do Energy Drinks Help With Weight Loss?

Energy drinks can help with weight loss, depending on what sort of energy drink you have, although drinking an energy drink by itself is definitely not going to make you lose any weight.

Energy drinks are often filled with ingredients like caffeine, taurine, and vitamins that could boost your energy levels for workouts intended for weight loss.

Plus, caffeine is notable for increasing weight loss efforts or even preventing weight gain.

That being said, be sure to choose the right energy drinks that’ll lead to losing more weight rather than gaining it.

Plenty of energy drinks contain large amounts of sugar, calories, and carbs that aren’t beneficial for your health and weight loss program.

Fortunately, sugar-free energy drinks are widely available now, so you can enjoy a nice boost without the additional calories and carbs.

You also have to be aware that having a can of sugar-free energy drink won’t magically make you shed more pounds every day.

No matter what, you still need to eat healthily and exercise regularly if you’re really set on losing weight.

The best way you can use your energy drink to its full advantage is by using the boost from the drink in order to complete your workout.

Energy Drinks And Exercise

Energy drinks can help improve your physical performance by providing you with a boost of energy.

It’s no surprise that in order to burn excess fat off, you have to exercise. But did you know that energy drinks make good exercise partners?

Due to the caffeine in energy drinks, you’ll be able to exercise more efficiently with better concentration. By doing longer workouts, you can burn more excess fats and calories off.

Plus, some energy drink brands contain amino acids like taurine and BCAAs to reduce muscle fatigue and increase muscle growth.

Of course, this also depends on the type of energy drink you consume.

While there’s no harm in drinking a sugary energy drink for your exercise sessions, I think it’s much better to consume sugar-free energy drinks instead.

With sugar-free energy drinks, you can avoid consuming too much sugar and carbs, and you’ll be less susceptible to a sugar crash too.

For optimal effectiveness, you should have a can of energy drink for around 30 to 45 minutes before working out.

However, I must remind you that energy drinks aren’t a good and efficient source of hydration.

For during or after your exercises, you should go for water or sports drinks instead, and steer clear of grabbing another can of energy drink. Proper hydration when you’re exercising is important for your body and health.

Does Caffeine Burn Fat?

Caffeine does have fat-burning qualities, but you must combine it with exercise for effective fat loss.

Caffeine is able to cause the release of adrenaline throughout your body, which, in turn, leads to the breakdown of fatty acids and releasing them into your blood.

While this is beneficial if you’re trying to lose excess fat, you must regularly exercise to properly burn off the excess fat and calories from your body.

It’s either that or managing your diet so that you keep your calorie intake at an average level.

Can Caffeine Increase Metabolism?

Caffeine can increase your metabolic rate by 3 – 11%, with bigger doses having a more prominent effect.

With a higher metabolic rate, you’ll be able to lose weight easier and consume more without gaining weight.

However, this effect of caffeine seems to vary based on individual age, body shape, and other factors.

A study involving ten lean women and ten obese women discovered that increased fat burning caused by caffeine was more profound in the lean women, whereas it was about 10% for the obese women.

The fat-burning qualities of caffeine also seem to have a stronger effect on younger individuals as compared to older folk

Of course, regardless of how beneficial it is, caffeine must be consumed at a tolerable level.

The FDA suggests an everyday caffeine consumption limit of 400mg for healthy adults. If you consume beyond that, you might end up with adverse effects like:

  • Restlessness and shakiness
  • Dizziness
  • Headaches
  • Anxiety
  • Rapid heart rhythm

Hence, even when you’re using caffeine to increase your metabolic rate and lose more fat, be sure to moderate your intake and stay within a tolerable personal limit.

Does Sugar Affect Belly Fat?

Sugar can lead to excess fat if not consumed in moderation.

Sugar does affect belly fat as it can lead to excess fat around your stomach and liver area.

Foods and beverages with added sugars are usually the culprits of excess fat in your body.

Aside from having negative effects on your metabolic health, added sugars also lead to fat buildup around your abdomen and liver, which is the primary cause of insulin resistance and metabolic issues.

Therefore, if you want to lose excess fat, you have to cut down on your sugar intake or replace your sugar-containing energy drinks with sugar-free ones.

As a reference, the AHA advises a daily sugar limit of 25g and 36g for women and men respectively.

In addition to gaining more fat, a diet high in sugar could lead to health problems like:

  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Acne

Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t have sugary energy drinks at all. While it’s okay to indulge in some sugar once in a while, you should reduce the number of sugary energy drinks in your diet if you’re on a strict fat loss program.

In addition to cutting down on sugar, you should also have a healthy diet of proteins and fiber and exercise regularly as well, all of which contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

Do Sugar-Free Energy Drinks Make You Fat?

Sugar-free energy drinks don’t immediately make you fat, but if you don’t balance it out with a healthful diet, consistent exercise, and a good amount of sleep, it’ll eventually lead to excess fat in your body.

Sugar-free energy drinks substitute sugar with artificial sweeteners instead, so you won’t have to worry about consuming a lot of sugar with these beverages.

However, sugar-free energy drinks sometimes still contain a small number of calories, which will eventually pile up if you burn them off through exercise.

Ultimately, while sugar-free energy drinks don’t directly lead to a buildup of excess fat, you’ll still be gaining more fat and calories without regular exercise.

Reign contains 300mg of caffeine per serving, a tremendous amount for an ample supply of energy, increased mental focus, and longer workouts.

Besides, Reign is completely sugar-free and has only 10 calories per serve, which is great if you want to cut back on calories, or are on a diet. Reign also contains lots of amino acids and vitamins for efficient performance and recovery.

However, because of its very high caffeine concentration, Reign is not suggested for anyone with a poor caffeine metabolism or a cardiac disease.

If you’re tired of energy drinks with too much caffeine, sugar, and other synthetic ingredients, Guru is the all-natural pick-me-up you’ve been looking for.

Guru is a fairly unique beverage consisting of mainly organic ingredients like sparkling water, green tea leaf extract, and echinacea flower extract.

On top of that, Guru also contains a decent amount of sugar and calories which would supply you with workable energy without going over the recommended daily limit.

While on the healthier end of the spectrum, the sugar and calories in Guru will add up if you tend to be less active than the average person.

Also, it may take more than one can of Guru before the caffeine kicks in, depending on your tolerance, which is not something I suggest unless you like a horrible sugar crash.

XS Energy is also sugar-free and has a low-calorie content, which won’t leave any negative impacts on your overall diet.

The disadvantage of XS Energy is that if you have a high caffeine tolerance, you may need more than one can of this drink to feel its effects kick in.
