Power Up: Proven and Tested – Discover the Best Energy Drinks for Energy

Top Recommendation: REIZE Energy!

For those that are new to energy drinks, it can be somewhat of a hassle to try out and judge all of these kinds of energy drinks and determine which is the best one for giving you a great energy boost.

But it doesn’t always have to be that way.

Finding out the best energy drink for you pretty much determines on your lifestyle and preference. Still, there are actually ways to determine which energy drinks will give you the most energy ahead of time, before purchasing them, and indeed, you couldn’t go wrong with Rockstar and Monster to name a few!

As an experienced energy drink connoisseur myself, here are the criteria that I use to determine which energy drinks are best for giving me the most energy.

Factors to Consider When Choosing Energy Drinks

In this section, I’ll focus on caffeine, sugar, and cost as factors to consider when choosing the best energy drinks for energy.

Caffeine

Caffeine is a key ingredient that is found in all energy drinks. Its main purpose is to help you improve your alertness, focus, and energy levels. That’s why after consuming caffeinated products you’ll feel much more energetic and alert.

When it comes to choosing which energy drinks will give you the most boost in energy, the ones with a higher caffeine content are usually more effective.

However, taking in such high amounts of caffeine has its downsides. Also, more caffeine doesn’t always equal more of an energy boost. I’ve certainly been disappointed by this assumption before.

Caffeine in large amounts is known to cause serious side effects such as:

In fact, it’s also recommended by the FDA to limit your caffeine intake to no more than 400mg per day to avoid the adverse effects of caffeinated beverages.

After years of drinking energy drinks, I’ve found that energy drinks that contain between 50 to 100mg of caffeine per serving are the best for giving me an ideal energy boost.

At that dosage, you don’t get any negative side effects that are associated with caffeine. Especially if combined with other great energy-boosting ingredients, energy drinks with a lower caffeine content can be more effective at giving you the extra energy that you seek.

Here’s a video explaining what caffeine does to your body when consumed in excess.

Sugar

The second most important criterion that you should keep your eye on is the sugar content in an energy drink.

Generally speaking, energy drinks with lower sugar content are better at giving you a more sustainable energy boost.

You might be wondering why is that so.

Well, sugar might be great in giving you a quick energy boost but those effects are usually short-lived.

In fact, after an hour or two, you’ll often be left facing a terrible energy crash otherwise known as a sugar crash. That’s definitely counter-productive to what you actually want when you need more energy.

Bear in mind, health authorities propose a sugar intake of no more than 26 to 36 g per day for women and men, respectively.

If you wanna be safe, you can try sugar-free energy drinks. Check out my article about the Best Sugar-free Energy Drinks!

Price

Energy drinks usually cost somewhere between $2 to $3 per can. However, as a consumer, most of the time price doesn’t really play a big role as long as we get the best value for our money.

I like to compare the price, the size of the can and the other ingredients when trying to weigh up the overall value for money of a particular energy drink.

But, what really matters?

With so many things that you should look out for in your quest to find the best energy drink for energy, it can be a little tiresome.

To help you eliminate all the guesswork and save you time and effort, I’ve rounded up the energy drinks that I consider to be some of the best for giving you energy.

With that out of the way, let me introduce (in no particular order)…

Which energy drink gives you the most energy?

Monster Energy

Monster Energy!

Caffeine Content: 160mg
Sugar Content: 54g
Price: $3.20 per 16 fl. oz can

A single can of this beast contains 160mg of caffeine, which is sure to give you more than enough energy to get through the day.

However, 160mg of caffeine is considered pretty high and may cause some negative side effects such as jitteriness or anxiety depending on your tolerance level.

For a seasoned energy drinker such as myself, such a dosage won’t cause you to experience any of the negative side effects of excessive caffeine, but if you have a lower tolerance to caffeine this might be too much for you.

A big drawback for Monster Energy is that it contains a lot of sugar which I think is really unhealthy. As mentioned above, taking in such a high amount of sugar will usually lead to a sugar crash afterwards.

If you’re thinking about drinking Monster Energy for an energy boost, I suggest you go for the sugar-free versions instead.

There are a couple of sugar-free versions from Monster such as Absolute Zero and Zero Ultra which are much healthier and won’t cause a sugar crash.

At $3.20 per drink, Monster definitely isn’t the most affordable option for your energy needs. However, if the taste is something that is important to you, Monster Energy comes in a variety of flavours.

Considering that $3.20 seems like a small price to pay to get an energy drink that you know will give you a good energy boost.

As an added bonus, you know you’ll enjoy the taste of at least one of their drinks since there are so many different flavours to choose from.

If you like the sound of Monster, I really recommend that you check out my other article on the subject of whether Monster energy drink is bad for you or not. I cover things in a lot more detail than I have here.

Rockstar Energy

Rockstar Energy!

Caffeine content: 160mg
Sugar content: 31g
Price: $2 per 16 fl. oz can

Rockstar is easily one of the top 3 most famous and most popular energy drink brands in the world. Similar to Red Bull and Monster, Rockstar is a legend in the energy drink industry.

Just a single can of this rock-and-rolling energy drink is bound to give you the energy to party like a rockstar. It’s not much of a surprise though since a single 16-ounce can contain 160mg of caffeine which is sure to give you a huge boost of energy.

However, Rockstar Energy does have quite a lot of sugar and this is its only downside. Taking in 31g of sugar might give you a quick energy boost at the start but after a couple of hours, you’ll be miserable, having to go through the dreaded sugar crash.

Red Bull

Red Bull Energy!

Caffeine content: 80mg
Sugar content: 24g
Price: $2 per 8.4 fl. oz can

Red Bull is the world’s most popular energy drink brand. With 80mg of caffeine in a can, Red Bull sure gives you a nice energy boost to get you through your day.

If you think about it, Red Bull is also not all that expensive either- it only costs about $2 per can. Lots of other options are $3 or more.

If you’re considering getting Red Bull to fuel your energy needs, I recommend you go for Red Bull sugar-free instead.

I try to avoid sugar-filled energy drinks (and sugar crashes) as much as possible. Although, even then I wouldn’t necessarily recommend that you drink Red Bull every day.

One thing that’s for sure, the sugar-free version is definitely much healthier for you. As a side note, since Red Bull is sugar-free, you won’t have to worry about experiencing any crash in your energy levels hours after drinking it.

Mountain Dew Kickstart

A picture of Mountain Dew Kickstart can
Mountain Dew Kickstart!

Caffeine content: 92mg
Sugar content: 20g
Price: $1.30 per 16 fl. oz can

If you’re a big fan of Mountain Dew, this energy drink might just be for you. A single can of Mountain Dew Kickstart contains 92mg of caffeine which is definitely enough to get you through your day.

The only downside of Mountain Dew Kickstart is that it does contain quite a lot of sugar.

It’s highly recommended that you should limit your sugar intake to no more than 37.5g for men and 25g for women per day.

Just a single can of Mountain Dew Kickstart puts you almost to the daily limit without considering that you might be taking in sugar from other sources in your diet too.

In my opinion, drinking a can of Mountain Dew Kickstart is fine but more than one in a single sitting and you might experience a nasty sugar crash a couple of hours after drinking it.

Bang Energy

Bang Energy Drink!

Caffeine content: 300mg
Sugar content: 0g
Price: $2.20 per 16 fl. oz can

The first thing you’ll notice with Bang Energy can is that it contains a whopping 300mg of caffeine, making it one of the strongest energy drinks on the market. Just one can of Bang energy is enough to keep you awake and energized throughout the day.

A can of Bang Energy costs about $2.20 per 16 fl. oz, which isn’t all that expensive if you take into account that most energy drinks usually cost around $2 to $3.

You’ll also notice that Bang doesn’t contain any sugar. This is exceptionally great as you won’t have to worry about experiencing the dreaded sugar crash, hours after drinking it.

Drinking more than one can of Bang a day is certainly not a good idea. If you have doubts about whether Bang energy drink is actually healthy, you’ve got to read my comprehensive article on are Bang energy drinks bad for you.

There are certainly a lot of controversies (and lawsuits) surrounding the Bang Energy drink. It’s a good idea to get the facts before making it your go-to energy-boosting buddy.

For comparison, here’s a look at the most important aspects of Bang in relation to the daily limits that constrain it.
