A Review of Bang Energy Drink’s Actual Performance (Details)

A Review of Bang Energy Drink’s Actual Performance (Details)

In the past few years, Bang has managed to build quite a reputation for itself.

Bang Energy is manufactured by Vital Pharmaceuticals which is the same American company behind VPX Sports supplements.

Here’s a quick review of the Bang Energy Drink:

Bang is a good pre-workout drink. It contains a formidable 300 mg of caffeine and micronutrients like EAAs, CoQ10, and Bang’s proprietary Super Creatine.

The drink’s ingredients are designed to enhance your mental and physical performance for your activities. However, the caffeine content may be too overwhelming for some.

Bang Energy Drink Review

Effects

They are perfect in terms of caffeine content if you’re looking for something that will really give you a massive energy boost.

I do a lot of heavy lifting these days as I’m trying to bulk up and I get great energy from drinking just one can. It helps a lot, especially when I’m on my last set and want to just blast through it the last few reps.

The best part?

I don’t feel the usual energy crash that you’ll get after consuming some other energy drinks, probably because Bang uses artificial sweeteners instead of real sugar, which is good in my opinion.

However, 300mg of caffeine in a single can may not be ideal for you if you are looking for something a bit more gentle instead of trying to lift every weight in the gym… simultaneously.

Indeed, with 300mg of caffeine, plus the marketing claims of creatine, Bang is straddling the line between pre-workout and energy drinks.

Bang markets itself as a “Potent Brain and Body Fuel” and proudly claims to be the only energy drink to include ‘Super Creatine’, ‘Ultra CoQ10’ and BCAA’s. Combined, they are said to boost your memory function, help cure Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and, get this, reverse mental retardation.

Can Bang drink actually do all that?

Personally, after trying the drink myself, I don’t see any improvement in my brain function other than keeping me awake, which I think mainly comes from the caffeine in it.

This video is an eye-opener, but (be warned) it does contain plenty of swearing.

Visuals

The drink itself is quite unpleasant due to its visual design. To me, the whole graphic design of the can is very tacky and unappealing.

One thing that I was really irritated by was the nutritional facts, ingredients, and warning labels on the can. The letters are jammed packed together and blurry making it hard to read. The white text on the black can certainly doesn’t help either.

Depending on the flavors, some cans have somewhat of a weird color combination (bright neon-ish color) which gives it an appearance of a low-quality product.

Visually, I’m not a big fan of the design of the drink.

The taste was pretty enjoyable though – I had the Peach-mango flavor, and it was quite peachy.

At the first sip, you can taste a very concentrated and strong peach flavor followed by a much more gentle and mellow mango aftertaste. I’m not a big fan of fruit myself, but I will say that this drink tastes really good.

I would like to try all of the Bang flavors to see if the others are equally impressive as peach-mango. Hopefully, I’ll get around to trying them all sooner or later.

Overall, this is definitely one of my favorite flavors for an energy drink to date.

Price

A pack of Bang consisting of 24 cans costs around $48 on Amazon, but there are often better deals depending on when you check the prices.

It works out as $2 per can.

On the one hand, forking out $2 for an energy drink that has as much caffeine as Bang is good value for money, especially if you’re looking for a huge boost in energy.

On the other hand, 300mg of caffeine is a massive amount and isn’t suitable for everyone. Also, there are plenty of cheaper options out there in the big wide world of energy drinks.

Final Verdict

I would give Bang Energy a rating of 6 out of 10.

If it wasn’t because of the visuals of the drink, I would’ve given it a higher score. Overall the visuals are just bad, unappealing, and hard to read.

On a side note, the quantity of BCAA’s, creatine, and CoQ10 is not actually stated on the drink which makes me question if there is actually enough of each of them to have an impact on my body.

These are all factors that I personally think are the downfall of the energy drink along with the crazy high caffeine content, which isn’t perfect for everyone.

Check out my other article where I take a deeper look at whether Bang energy drink is bad for you or not.

Does Bang energy actually work?

Personally, after trying it myself, I can say that Bang does work just like most other energy drinks out there.

This comes as no surprise, as a single can contain 300mg of caffeine which is an absurdly high amount.

If a single cup of coffee that contains about 95mg of caffeine is enough to get you up and going, just imagine what a can of Bang Energy can do to you.

It’s going to give you enough energy to jump through the roof! *Just joking*

However, the main highlight of the drink here isn’t its caffeine content.

It’s the other ingredients that are in the energy drinks namely Super creatine, BCAA’s, and CoQ10.

All these ingredients are said to help improve your mental focus, improve performance, and enhance muscle growth.

So how much of it is actually true?

For starters, I’ll briefly guide you through what BCAA’s and CoQ10 are for.

BCAA’s are commonly taken as a supplement to boost muscle growth and improve your workout performance.

CoQ10 on the other hand, like caffeine, helps to give you an energy boost.

It’s typically recommended to take 90-200mg of CoQ10 and 12g of BCAA’s per day to see the effects of both ingredients. That’s quite a lot.

What confuses me (and apparently many others) is that Bang doesn’t state on the label of the can how much of these ingredients are inside the can.

So, you won’t really know for sure if there is enough of these in a can to give you any benefit at all.

UPDATE: I PAID TO HAVE BANG LAB TESTED MYSELF TO CHECK THE AMOUNT OF THESE INGREDIENTS. THE RESULTS WERE SO UNBELIEVABLE THAT I HAD TO DOUBLE CHECK THEM WITH A SECOND LAB.

See the lab results for yourself.

What about the so-called “Super Creatine”?

The manufacturer of Bang Energy claims that it’s the only drink on the market that contains BCAA’s and their own produced ingredient “Super Creatine”.

Athletes and bodybuilders use creatine to enhance their athletic performance and enhance their muscle growth.

Unlike conventional creatine, Super Creatine is designed to be water-soluble.

As stated by the founders of Bang Energy, Super Creatine is the only water-soluble creatine in the world, and mixing it with caffeine helps to enhance your mental focus.

However, recently Bang Energy drinks have been facing lawsuits from many parties due to false advertising and deceptive claims.

ThermoLife states that Super Creatine is not creatine, in fact, it doesn’t even form creatine when ingested. Instead, it forms a compound called creatinine which is useless and can be potentially harmful to your body.

For me, besides the boost of energy that I get after drinking a can of Bang Energy, I don’t experience any other benefits.

In fact, it’s not stated on the can how much CoQ10, BCAA’s, and even Super Creatine are in one serving.

So, I’ve got a lot of questions about the ingredients and health claims of Bang, especially in light of all of the lawsuits about false advertising.

Personally, I look at Bang as a tasty energy drink with tons of caffeine in it. Because of the lack of clarity around the other ingredients, I’m not even going to consider them in my purchase decision about whether to buy Bang or not.

I’ll grab a can of Bang when I want a massive energy boost to get through my workout, but on most other days I’ll go for something with a more sensible amount of caffeine instead.

Read more about Super Creatine in my other article.

Alternatives to Bang energy drink

If you’re looking for something similar to the Bang Energy Drink, here are some ready-to-drink options to take a look at:

Powdered energy drinks are also a great option, as they tend to be much more convenient and affordable than most of the market-leading energy drinks, but still with the same great taste and effectiveness:

REIZE (10 out of 10)

REIZE
Try REIZE.

If you fancy yourself a powdered energy drink, REIZE is my recommended option.

REIZE is not like your conventional ready-to-drink energy drink. Instead, it comes in convenient sachets of powder and is easy to make. All you need to do is add water or you can also mix it with your other favorite drinks – it’s really versatile with what you can mix it with.

At 50mg of caffeine, REIZE doesn’t have the same amount of caffeine that Bang Energy does, but it still gives you the energy boost you need without the crash afterward because of the combination of B vitamins, ginseng, and taurine.

The sachets are really neat and great for travel too.

Best of all, at around $1 per drink, REIZE is definitely more affordable than Bang Energy and most other energy drinks on the market.

Why don’t you give REIZE a try yourself, you might just find that REIZE quickly becomes your favorite energy drink too.
