Blue Razz Bang: A Sweet and Tart Energy Drink Review

Blue Razz Bang: A Sweet and Tart Energy Drink Review

As a leading energy drink brand in the US, Bang is quite a common sight if you’re an energy drink enthusiast, since it’s sold in general stores and supermarkets, as well as advertised on Youtube.

Plus, Bang is pretty well-known for its extensive repertoire of flavors, which includes the classic Blue Razz flavor that everyone seems to love.

You may wonder: what makes the Blue Razz Bang flavor so special? Is it as good as it’s made out to be in the reviews?

Blue Razz Bang tastes pretty similar to blue raspberry, with a sweet yet sour taste along with a decent amount of carbonation and a refreshing finish. This makes Blue Razz Bang one of the best flavors offered by the brand and is widely appealing to consumers everywhere.

Of course, that’s not all to it. For a more in-depth look into Bang Blue Razz Energy Drink, read on for everything on it, from its caffeine and ingredients to how well it is taste-wise.

Bang Blue Razz Calorie Content

Every 16 fl. oz can of Bang Blue Razz has 0 calories.

If you’re looking for a low-calorie or zero-calorie energy drink to complement your diet, Bang Blue Razz certainly ticks all the boxes.

Compared to energy drinks like Red Bull (110 calories per 8.4 fl. oz) and Monster (190 calories per 16 fl. oz), Bang Blue Razz is generally a much healthier option.

Given that the recommended daily caloric limit is 2000 to 2400 calories for women and 2400 to 3000 calories for men, it’s safe to say that Bang Blue Razz definitely won’t leave any impact on your overall diet.

Calorie-free drinks have their advantages, but they rely only on caffeine to keep you going. To avoid fainting from hunger later, it’s best to have a healthy lunch before heading out, rather than relying on a can of Bang Blue Razz.

If you find that Bang Blue Razz doesn’t appeal to you, have a look through a list of some great recommendations in my article on the best zero-calorie energy drinks, which you may find helpful.

How Much Caffeine Is In Bang Blue Razz?

A cup of coffee.
Caffeine is great for enhancing your performance if you need an extra boost.

Each 16 fl. oz can of Bang Blue Razz has a whopping 300mg of caffeine.

Caffeine is a must-have feature in energy drinks since it’s what contributes to keeping you awake and enhancing your performance, both physical and mental.

With 300mg, Bang Blue Razz is easily one of the strongest energy drinks out there, along with brands like Reign and Raze.

Personally, I prefer somewhere between 50mg to 100mg of caffeine per drink, as I find that amount to give me a decent enough boost, without overwhelming me with side effects.

As such, Bang Blue Razz is definitely not a drink I’ll seek out often unless I need an extremely strong boost for the day. That said, whether you’ll be able to handle Bang Blue Razz or not depends on your caffeine metabolism and how well you can adjust to the effects of caffeine.

Since Bang Blue Razz has high caffeine content, it’s best to steer clear of this drink and go for lower-caffeine energy drinks instead if you have a low caffeine tolerance.

While the caffeine within Bang Blue Razz can definitely provide you with an explosive boost, you shouldn’t go overboard with it either. The FDA suggests an everyday caffeine intake of up to 400mg for healthy adults.

Anything else than that, and you may wind up with unfriendly impacts, such as:

  • insomnia
  • rapid heart rhythm
  • dizziness
  • headaches
  • dehydration

Considering that Bang Blue Razz has 300mg of caffeine, it’ll be pretty easy for you to over-consume caffeine with this drink. As such, be sure to avoid having other caffeinated beverages along with Bang Blue Razz.

All in all, be sure to moderate your Bang Blue Razz intake and try not to double down on caffeinated drinks in general.

How Much Sugar Is In Bang Blue Razz?

Bang Blue Razz doesn’t contain any sugar.

Though Bang Blue Razz contains a lot of caffeine, it doesn’t contain any sugar, and thus, would be great if you happen to be following a diet.

That said, it’s important to know that the AHA advises a maximum sugar intake of 25g and 36g for women and men respectively.

A diet fairly high in sugar would lead to some serious health problems such as:

  • high blood pressure
  • diabetes
  • weight gain
  • aging skin
  • cardiovascular diseases

In any case, while Bang is sugar-free, be sure to moderate your consumption of other energy drinks containing high levels of sugar.

Does Bang Blue Razz Have Artificial Sweeteners?

Bang Blue Razz does have artificial sweeteners, namely sucralose.

Sucralose is a zero-calorie sweetener that’s mainly used to improve the sweetness and flavor of food products. It has an added advantage in that it doesn’t contain any extra carbs, thus it won’t raise your blood sugar levels.

Of course, while sucralose makes an appealing alternative to sugar, there are still some concerns regarding its long-term effects, so make sure to have it in moderation.

That said, if you’re still worried about the safety of sucralose, rest assured as it has been approved by the FDA for general use.

As long as you aren’t including sucralose in every meal, you should be completely fine.

What Does Bang Blue Razz Taste Like?

Bang Blue Razz has a fruity, refreshing berry-like flavor, with a sour tinge and the fizzy finish of an energy drink.

If I had to compare Blue Razz to any fruit available, I’ll say that it’s pretty close to blue raspberry, down to the slightly sour taste that comes with any berry-flavored beverage.

I actually quite like the taste of Blue Razz, but considering that I’m a fan of fruity flavors, it might vary depending on your personal preferences.

What I find interesting about Bang Blue Razz is how it’s quite refreshing with a decent balance of sweet yet sour taste, and it doesn’t leave much of an aftertaste.

As for its effects, Bang Blue Razz does have a pretty noticeable effect, since it made me feel more alert, and kept me pushing through my gym reps for some time, though that’s just for me.

Considering that the caffeine content of Bang Blue Razz is pretty close to hitting the daily caffeine limit, it’s safe to say that you can only have one can of Bang Blue Razz in a day.

From a health perspective, Bang Blue Razz doesn’t contribute any calories or carbs due to being sugar-free, though it contains high levels of caffeine, which means you have to be extra careful with your consumption.

As long as you stick to one can of Bang Blue Razz daily, you should be completely safe from serious adverse effects. Furthermore, be sure to not have other caffeinated foods and drinks on the same day, as you could easily go over the daily limit than you assume.
